OS requirements : Windows 10 64 bit or more recent.
Hardware requirements (AMD) : ASUS ROG/TUF/PRIME motherboards with AMD 3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx series chipsets (except ROG with ALC40xx).
Hardware requirements (Intel) : ASUS ROG/TUF/PRIME motherboards with Intel 2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx/7xx series chipsets (except ROG with ALC40xx).

Note : In order to know which drivers package to use, match the audio specifications of your motherboard with the apps or ask me.

TIPS :

If you want to manage the drivers (remove old/unused drivers for example) that you have in your Windows DriverStore
Use Driver Store Explorer (Right click on "Rapr.exe" > Run as administrator).

If you want better interrupts delivery latency
Enable MSI (Message Signaled-based Interrupts) mode on all your supported devices (see the column "supported modes") with
MSI Mode Utility (Right click on "MSI_Mode_Utility_v3.exe" > Run as administrator).

If you experience crackling, popping, audio stutter
Disable hibernation (Fast Startup included).

Can someone please help me i have Asus Tuf x-470 plus gaming motherboard. Which driver i must use ? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You have an ASUS TUF DTS Custom motherboard, so :

You need Realtek Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS TUF/PRIME DTS Custom) from the first post of this thread.

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

Thank you sir it works. But there is audio equalizer only for headphones (DTS), before i was having also Eq for speakers.

Hi,

Since you have an ASUS TUF DTS Custom motherboard, it is by design, it's intended to work like this at least for ASUS products : If third party drivers/app are built-in, the equalization is done via the third party drivers/app (DTS Custom drivers/app in your case).

However, if if you want anyway to have EQ in Realtek app, you can try this (know that HDA drivers are legacy/outdated while your motherboard is designed to use modern UAD drivers) :

Download Realtek High Definition Audio Drivers (HDA - ASUS ROG/TUF/PRIME DTS&RTK) from the first post of this thread : [DRIVERS] Realtek Audio (Intel 6x/7x/8x/9x/1xx & AMD Legacy 6xx/7xx/8xx/9xx).

Follow scrupulously the CLEANUP process then the INSTALL process from ASUS ROG/TUF/PRIME Realtek motherboards category from the same thread.

Also for information :

HDA Drivers are for Windows 7 to Windows 10
UAD Drivers are only for Windows 10 64 bit or more recent

HDA Drivers use Win32/Legacy apps (including Realtek HD Audio Manager)
UAD Drivers use UWP apps downloaded from Microsoft Store (including Realtek Audio Control/Console)

HDA Drivers have a tray icon (possibility to disable it)
UAD Drivers don't have a tray icon (without possibility to enable it)

Glossary :

HDA = High Definition Audio
HDA (Realtek) = Standard (NVIDIA) = Legacy (Microsoft & Intel)

UAD = Universal Audio Driver
UAD (Realtek) = DCH (NVIDIA & Intel now) = DCHU (Microsoft) = UWD (Microsoft & Intel before)

DCH/DCHU = Declarative Componentized Hardware Support Apps Universal API compliance

UWD = Universal Windows Driver.

Thank you for all your help and explenation sir.

Hi everyone,

/!\ REMINDER /!\ (to make it clear for everyone who wants to update to the latest drivers) :

- Your current install/update was done via the installer (Setup.exe) : Follow scrupulously your INSTALL process with cleanup step, if don't work for you, retry but this time to prevent Windows Update from generating a drivers install conflict, disable your Internet connection from the start of the INSTALL process (before cleanup step) until the end of drivers install of the INSTALL process (after the restart).

- Your current install/update was done via the .cmd : You can directly follow your UPDATE process.

Wow, this seems like nightmare compared to usual driver updates. I'm in awe of you MoKiChU for figuring all this out!

I'll take a snapshot of my install before attempting, just to be safe. Seems like this resets and then is base for new Realtek going forward so only gotta go through the initial driver wiping/cleaning once, right? Then free to update as new releases are discovered and posted here by MoKiChU?

But before I do... so what exactly is new or improved compared to the 6.0.1.8666 driver and Sonic software from Asus? Some place I could see screenshots? I'm a dork so I just want the latest and greatest driver for anything, regardless of whether I actually need it or not. But this ain't no simple setup.exe or device mgr driver update.

Hi,

The reasons for this change are explained on this post : https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?117596-DRIVERS-Realtek-Audio-(UAD-2xx-3xx-4xx)/page3#post8....

Right.

Right.

Realtek never provides changelog (A-Volute does not do better), however I can tell you in general that the changes are adds of new hardware IDs, bug/security fixes, improvement of the sound spectrum, support for new games/apps/OS etc ...

It's no more complicated than using installer (Setup.exe) or Device Manager (which does not allow the installation of Extension Drivers), it's even simpler, faster and more efficient.

Realtek packages its UAD/DCH drivers according to the wishes of the OEMs, so there are some with installer (Setup.exe) and others without (via .cmd/.bat), it all depends on the deployment philosophy of the OEM (ASUS is deploying more and more drivers only packages that use an install via .cmd/.bat for probably the same reasons as me : https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1039030).

Those who have been following me for a long time know that I have always tried to offer the most refined drivers and the most integrated in the system (Drivers Only) when the number of .inf to install manually is not excessive (Example here).

The change I have made here for Realtek Audio Drivers is a continuation of this Drivers Only logic (the .cmds contain an automation of the equivalent of a right click then Install on each necessary .inf, in the necessary order, according to the case).

I did a system restore point and a full image to be safe, but no need. Process went 100% smooth by simply following your step by step. Now I'm freed from the Asus SS3 leash, thanks!

Two questions:

1) What the heck is the Sonic Studio Virtual Mixer? I added just b/c it was there thinking it was another UWP app but now see it's actually additional device in Speakers and Recording devices. What does it do and when would someone use it?

2) Is this the master thread to subscribe to in order to get informed of future SS3 updates?

Thanks again for all the hard work simplified to easy to follow steps!

If your are not a streamer or youtuber, you have no interest in using it.

Here is official overview :
SONIC STUDIO VIRTUAL MIXER
A virtual audio device that lets streamers combine sound output and output from different apps. This allows you to mix your voice and video game audio within streaming software. A variety of adjustment and monitoring tools provide a high level of digital control.

Right.
