DDR5 Ram (Max) ASUS ROG Strix Z690-E WIFI 6E

Hello I am new here

This is my first build since my Asus A88X-Plus a long time ago and a lot has changed

I am wondering the website says max 192gb of ram but elsewhere it says 128gb

I need to have this clear before I get my  ram as i bought my board on the notion i could do 4 sticks of 48gb

As well it states 6400mhz is that before overclock can i still overclock if my ram is 6400 or Should i save $ and go with 5600 and overclock

Thank you

Just to add onto Nate's points above:

1. If looking to add additional modules to the system at a later date, the XMP profile is invalidated and manual tuning is often needed. Memory and motherboard vendors do not support combining memory kits.

2. Memory kits are binned at the validated XMP profile in the density at which they are sold.

3. The higher the density, the lower the OC margin the system has. This is why the QVL does not contain 4x48GB kits above 5200MT. As Nate points out, one of these limitations is CPU IMC variance.

4. Purchase kits validated on the QVL: ROG STRIX Z690-E GAMING WIFI | Gaming motherboards|ROG - Republic of Gamers|ROG Global (asus.com)

Here is Intel's DDR5 native support table. Anything above these configurations is considered an overclock.

Hello Sylvyrcloud

The Tech Specs Show the ROG Strix Z690-E Gaming Wifi supports up to 192GB of memory and up to 6400MHz. But, you won't get 192GB to run at 6400MHz as there is no such single memory kit.

If you're just gaming, you could save some $ and go with a 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz memory kit. Most games except for maybe flight simulator recommend only 16GB.

G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series (Intel XMP 3.0) DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s CL36-36-36-96 1.35V De...

The cpu matters when it comes to memory clocking as the memory controller is on the cpu, the i9 cpu's should have the strongest memory controller.

Thanks Nate152

I plan to use CORSAIR Vengeance RGB 96GB (2 x 48GB) or G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series 96GB of at least 5600 mhz kit to start off, with. the  i7-12700K CPU  in the antc DF700 FLUX . I know it's a gaming build but I will be using it as a creator IE: Premiere Pro (After Effects) And Programs like Topaz Video AI 4 and such . I understand what's recommended  but I would like to do it at fast speeds so I don't mind spending the extra $ as the way I see it my time is worth more than that. Do you have any good recommendations for good but reliable better budget ram?  Thanks for your time and assistance.

It's best to check the QVL list for your motherboard and cpu.

I see a 64GB 5600MHz memory kit on the G.Skill QVL list for the ROG Strix Z690-E Gaming Wifi.

Thank you both !!  I truly appreciate your support and knowledge.

I was aware not to mix memory kits  and somehow totally missed the vendor list .
