DDR5 GSkill 6800MT XMP unstable with 14900ks

Hi,

I just made a new build with the i9 14900KS,  A Z790 Dark Hero and a kit of 96Gb Gskill F5-6800J3446F48GX2-TZ5RK.

As soon as I turn on XMP I  or XMPII I have some stability issues. The easiest test is to run a cinebench 2024 multicore test and it freezes in less than 10 seconds.

Is there a way to get that stable ? Should I change for another kit or wait for some future bios update?

no it's not. It's only when XMP is enabled.

Then you likely need to look at manual tuning, or perhaps opt for a lower-density kit.

Although it's just an indicator, you might want to run the Memory SP test under Extreme Tweaker > Ai Features.

80+ above average

70 to 80 average

Below 70 below average

These are not applicable to core strength, only memory controller.

It gives me a score at 89

I tried to increase the default xmp voltage from 0,5 and lower the frequency from 6800 to 6000 but no luck as soon as there is two sticks.

Hi @Silent_Scone
Is XMPII really more relaxed than XMPI? I always thought, that XMPII is more aggressive,
since I had more problems and errors with XMPII.
Thank u for ur help and better insight in this matter! Really appreciate it. 🙂

Hi, i have titanium 48x4Gb 6600mhz with xmp doesnt work... I can run only to base clock 4800mhz, someone can help me?

I tried 2 motherboard z790 dark hero and 3 different memory kits from que QVL and the issue persist as well.

the asus tech support level 2 said that we have to wait for the next bios to enable XMP since this related to the high voltage issue with intel i9 13&14th gen.

intel is currently testing the microcode and it should be release with the new BIOS mid/ end of august.

we have to be patient.

But can i set my memory manually to reach a minimun of 6000mhz? I spent 1000$ for 192Gb of ram and this joke from asus is terrible... I need to reach a decent frequence and timing untill the new version of the bios arrive

This is not an asus issue but an intel issue.

for 192gb or ddr5 you probably bought 2 kits.

ddr5 does not work as ddr4 and you cannot mix 2 kits and expect everything to be stablewith XMP.

neither asus or the ram manufacturer are ensuring a stable overclock (xmp is an overclock) when we’re mixing kits.

you can still try to manually overclock it though but higher is the density, harder it is to get it stable.

@Silent_Scone did an post about it on this forum if you are curious.

My friend, thank you for the reply, this is a terrible news for me 😅 okay i'll try manually but honesty i havent enough knowledge to do overclock manually, i need help from someone that can suggest me a configuration and try to reach a decent level of overclock, thank you.

Other thing: do you think there is hope with bios update in a xmp for 48*4 corsair titanium 6600mhz? I saw there is only support for 48*4 for vegeance 5200mhz for now...
