Corsair DDR5 6600Mhz cas32 with Z690 Maximus Extreme XMP Bug ?

Hello,

I'm on ASUS Z690 Maximus Extreme ( last bios 1720 ) :
I have DDR5 6600 cas 32 Dominator from Corsair.
But when I activate the XMP rpofile everything bugs and I have crashes.

Is this motherboard limited to 6400 Mhz??

What needs to be changed to make it work?

6600 is off the top of the spec sheet, but there is 6600 on the QVL. Part numbers matter when it comes to the QVL, you should verify that you have the exact Corsair parts listed there, and note that the Corsair 6600 is only for K/KF series CPUs (seems unlikely you wouldn't have a K, but there's no Corsair 6600 validated for non-K).

If it's on the QVL, then it's a supported config by ASUS (but remember that all XMP is overclocking).

Obviously, there is no Corsair memory validated in 6600 on this motherboard...
Afterwards these memories work in XMP but only if I lower the frequency to 6400 Mhz.
I should have checked before, I know now...

But sometimes at 6400 Mhz I still get some rather rare bugs like the FireFox page that closes...
On the other hand, when I left the PC at 6600 Mhz, the motherboard searches but no longer boots.

Firefox open and closed it an issue. But 6400MHz is the threshold of the Z690 board. Having said, you need some very carefully in adjustment in BIOS. For example even at one point Intel or web review quoted 3600MHz was the maximum speed for DDR4 but lot of people can achieve far better like 4000MHz or more in a click of mouse which I tested and run good in one of my system. Modern XMP and ram relationship all talk about sweet spot. Be patient and test your RAM voltage. By the way what your RAM voltage indicate in your bios.

If it's a K/KF series CPU, there are 2 Corsair 6600 parts on the ASUS QVL.

eI have a 12900KS and these 6600 Mhz memories do not work for me in XMP...

Set to XMP mode and manually change the ram frequency to 6600Mhz and test it out.

XMP 1 or 2?

I find that on 4 ram slots boards the XMP2 is unstable as hell and shouldn't be used and I dont know what its doing there.

XMP2 is XMP with Asus magic that can might cause instability due to trimmings tuning that might not be good for the RAM you have yourself .

Try also to raise the VDD and VDDQ by 50mv and IMC voltage by a 50mv aswell and see if that works you might need to play with it until stable . If raising voltage please make sure you have air flow on the ram, DDR5 can be quiet toasting and can give errors at higher temps, I have mine arround 40 idle 60 load(gaming) you can monitor those temps with HWinfo.

If the ram is XMP 1.3V I would go up to 1.45. But pretty sure those are 1.4V XMP for such high freq and lower cas so you can try up to 1.5 or even more, just be aware of temps.

You can also up the CAS latency to 34-36, CAS latency on DDR5 is not as impactful as in DDR4.

Asus may not update the QVL list in time and Corsair may not be able to test all bios of Z690 series board in every version. So back with the thread starter topic, did you try to activate XMP mode and manually select the Memory frequency select to to Corsair rated XMP frequency and voltage or select auto? Next what the bug you facing and how your system crash? Maybe you can provide in the forum in detail. In that way other forum member can provide option solution to help you. Corsair dominator quite popular within the community, having said that it may need the board to do some tuning. Welcome to the Asus Forums.
