Cannot get into BIOS

Fireblade69

My computer was showing some strange CPU speeds and it seemed to lose the overclocking from 3.6 Htz to 5.00 Htz so I started the AI Overclocking to correct.

On boot however, the BIOS started the overclocking and got to 38% before returning 'Chassis Intrude' and 'CPU Fan Error' and not booting up. The system is water cooled.

The problem is that I keep pressing the F2 and Del keys on boot to change the settings and I cannot enter the BIOS.

Any ideas please.

TIA

I think the best bet would be to first reset the BIOS to defaults, hopefully that will get it out of whatever loop it has got stuck in.

Z690 Hero, BIOS 3401, MEI 2406.5.5.0, ME Firmware 16.1.30.2361, 7000X Case, RM1000x PSU, i9 12900K, ASUS TUF OC 3090TI, 2 x 16GB Corsair RAM @ 5200MHz, Windows 11 Pro 23H2, Corsair H150i Elite AIO, 4x Corsair RGB fans, 3x M.2 NVME drives, 2x SATA SSDs, 2x SATA HDs.

 Hello Fireblade69,

Getting the cpu fan error means you don't have a fan connected to the cpu fan header. I'm on a custom loop and get this as well.

When you get the cpu fan error message, press F1 to enter the bios. Go to the monitoring tab and set cpu fan speed to "Ignore".

Thank you Nate152 and JohnAb.

I have removed the CMOS battery and then managed to get into the BIOS and turn off the monitoring.

All is good again. Thank you
