Bought Dark Hero because Maximus Hero Z790 out of stock. Worst Experience, ERROR 55. No bios entry

I have a Maximus Hero z790 upstairs (i9-13900KS).  My downstairs PC (z390) started acting up.  So I bought an i9-14900KF and 64GB DDR5 Corsair Vengeance, and new water cooling h150i from corsair, and Maxiumus z790 Dark Hero MB.

Power up the Dark Hero system and ERROR 55 after the MB cycled through many times.  I have 4 sticks of RAM (16x4).  I updated to the latest support firmware release: 1302 (using only one stick of RAM to get to bios). Same result = ERROR 55.  I returned that memory, then bought Dominator 4 sticks from the QVL list.  It's the only one on the QVL list for 4 sticks.  Same thing.  ERROR 55.  Can't enter bios, monitor not synced at all.

I bought this because the Maximus Hero was out of stock.  Thinking newer was better.  Well now I regret the purchase.  I'm not overclocking AT ALL.  I'm just trying to get it to boot.  It's SP confidence is 125.  I know this because I bought a 3rd kit and was able to post with AUTO with 1.1v and 2100MHz.  I have 2 sticks of 32GB now.  I can get XMP 1 to post by upping the VDD and VDDQ voltage to 1.38000 and not syncing the memory (individual).  But as soon as it goes to boot, I get a light blue RECOVERY screen.  And If I tell it to continue, I got a windows 11 BSOD TPM.sys error.

I just want this to work.  I understand there are people that want to squeeze every bit of performance, but man.... get the code right to at least boot.

The sad thing is the Maximus Hero z790 using the same ram (4 sticks) boots just fine.  Whereas the same RAM (4 sticks) throws ERROR 55 on the Maxiumus z790 Dark Hero MB.  Factory Default BIOS (F5) setting on both.

Sounds like the RAM is OK, so I would go with 2 sticks for now and find settings that are stable. Turn off XMP and run memory tests, increase the RAM voltages gradually if not 100% stable. It might take a while, but once you have stability you can try going back to 4 sticks, XMP off again initially. Sadly, I see so many problems with DDR5 memory, that's one reason I have never bothered to upgrade my slow RAM. Write down the settings as you try them, it's the only good way to work through all of the possible permutations.

If still struggling, it might also be a good idea to re-mount the CPU, check for dirt, hairs, dust etc and make sure the cooler is tightened evenly, but not overtightened.

I have a Dark Hero Z790 with a 13900K. I have 4 Kingston Fury DDR5 RAM modules.
As of today there is no way, I have not found a way and I think that there is still no way to use 4 DDR5 RAM modules with an active XMP profile.
If I use 2 modules, I can turn on the XMP profile and they work without any problem at 5600MT/s, but, if I turn on the XMP profile, I have error 55 and the system simply will not work. XMP only works with 2 modules, with 4, there is no way.
For now, the only way I have managed to use all 4 modules at the same time is by turning off the XMP profile and letting the motherboard and processor determine which RAM speed is best and stable (Which is currently 4200MT/s) , only then can I use the 128GB of RAM in 4 modules without problems.

Hi @naulito , I have Z790 DARK HERO board (see my signature) and I bought the 4 sticks from QVL. I am able to run XMP II at rated 5200 MT/s without any issues. My detailed system specification is available in https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-motherboards/can-asus-support-fix-realtek-audio-drivers-with-bo... post.

I had to use 1 stick so that I could update BIOS when I first bought the board about 3-4 months ago. Once I updated the BIOS (it was 1102 back then) I was able to install all 4 sticks and was able to enable XMP II without any issues.

If anyone tries to mix the memory kits then various issues happen as the support is limited and not recommended. See https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/technologies-explained/memory-kits-overclocking-and-what-you-may-not-k... post and also see the YouTube video in the comment.

I hope this helps.
