Booting from USB issues

I get booting a Linux Distro from USB whilst having Windows on main drive maybe odd, I think, I have a issue/dislike and hoping someone can help.

I set Boot priority to

1. USB drive with Linux

2. M.2 Drive with Windows

I boot to Linux, do whatever and shutdown. Unplug Linux USB and start computer. Bios Goes to Linus splash screen which won't do anything as USB not plugged in. I can't do anything besides shutdown PC then mash Del to get into bios and do boot override to Windows on the M.2 drive.

To me if Linux USB that is primary is NOT plugged/detected the next option is the second entry which is M.2 with Windows. If I'#m installing Windows it boots from the USB whilst installing and then after removing in boots from the internal drive. Is there a settting I'm missing or this Bios just not working how I believe should be logically, for me?

Oh and I'm not dual booting as MS has been known to screw Linux installation up and I have no faith in MS NOT screwing things up.
