Hi everyone,
I did the update the day before yesterday and spent all time since then to find out what happened: my PC freezes randomly after the upgrade.
Intel i7 13700K, Asus Proart z790 Creator WiFi, Kingston Fury DDR5 5600 64 Gb,Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070 Ti.
I came from Bios 2505, so Intel ME was updated too. Rolling back to 2505 doesn't fix it.
Run memory check from Bios and it's all good.
Reverted to bios default, cleared CMOS...nothign works so far.
It never froze while inside bios.
The only thing I can't do is roll back Intel ME.
Any clue?
Thanks!!!

I'm using a Noctua NH U12A to cool the cpu in a Fractal North with 3 Noctua fans on front, two on top and one on the back.
I never mentioned that.

the older alternative to an I7-13700K is an I9-12900K. Both have the same number of cores, although the 12900K has slightly less PL2.
Ultimately, it depends on what you set in the UEFI or whether you use overclocking.
I use my i7-13700K with Intel standard settings and XMP for the RAM.
In addition, I changed "IA TDC Current Limit" to "Intel's Default" in the UEFI. This way, the CPU stays cool and still achieves the clock speeds specified by Intel.
Never had any problems with it.

yes sorry for the late reply, xmp worked fine before the latest update, ive ordered a fresh pair of dominator titanium ram sticks to see if that changes anything (currently using CL32, new ones are CL40) but they are on back order now so ill have to wait until mid january before i can test.

The Intel ME firmware cannot be reset. So you cannot go back to an older version.
Asus also says that if you flash a UEFI/BIOS update to an older version, the Intel ME firmware will still remain on the newer version.
It will not be reset during the flashback.
I also don't think that the Intel ME firmware is to blame for your system freezing after the UEFI update.
but you can just test it.
Flash an older UEFI/BIOS with which your system ran smoothly and check whether the Intel Me firmware changes.

Yes, intel ME seems not to be blamed. Somehow the update triggered the problem, maybe.
The number one suspect remains the CPU, which I will replace as soon as I get one.
I hope it will be the solution, other than that...MoBo? I really hope not.

Hopefully this is the last update: I managed to get a new i713700F and put it in. Everyhing works now, it looks like it really was the CPU.
Intel also just sent the replacement i713700K and it's on its way. Now I only need to decide whether I keep the F or switch back to the K when I get it.
Thank you all for your replies, have some great holidays and a happy 2025!

Any updates?
I had an issue with 24H2 and the latest 2801 BIOS.
My mistake is that i did these updates at the same time and I couldnt find out the issue.
Rolling back to 23H2 solved constant blue screen issues, but now I have this weird bug where my PC going to sleep ends up restarting it!
This could be a BIOS issue, but I'm unsure.

I also have the latest UEFI 2801 on my motherboard and NO BSODs under Windows 11 24H2.
Everything works as it should.
I don't think it's the UEFI update, otherwise more users would have these problems.
It would be interesting to know WHAT the error was in the BSODs.

I was getting system service exception filemanager.sys
Theres an official statement regarding 24h2, if you didn't get any issues that's one thing but it happened to a lot of people including other forums on Facebook.
It's a freshly replaced 14900KS too so it isn't degraded.
The only bug I have now is on 2703 and 2801 where idle causes a reboot (when screen goes off)!
The only work around is to have "turn screen off after" to off and only have sleep on.

Hello, it also happened to me after updating the new version of BIOS 2801 that the computer randomly switches off the image to sleep mode, the cpu and gpu fans start humming and the only thing that helps is a restart. I wrote to support and they will contact Asus, saying that the only solution is to issue a new BIOS update, but it depends when Asus will do it, I think that this problem is not only for a few people, but there will be many people with this problem. I hope it will be resolved as soon as possible. at asus support they told me that the ASUS BIOS 2801 upgrade is also part of INTEL ME 16.1.32.2473, the question was sent on and if this is the problem of more individuals there will probably be a new update but report this problem directly to ASUS SUPPORT. have nice day i hope that problem will soon solved by ASUS
