Bios downgrade B660-I

Hej! Ii have updated the bios on the B660-I to the latest version 2611, using the bios tool Ez flashback 3 (in the bios menu) with the file copied on the USB. I can see the CPU i5-13600fk have lost about 15fps on average after update.

I would like to downgrade the bios to version 2403, can I do it the same way? Or how can I downgrade?

Some BIOSs are locked to prevent a downgrade, but that's not very common, so just give it a try, Same method, just flash the previous version again. It's exactly the same process, good luck.

Z690 Hero, 12900K, BIOS 4001, MEI 2433.6.3.0, ME Firmware 16.1.35.2557, 7000X Case, RM1000x PSU, ASUS TUF OC 3090TI, 2 x 16GB Corsair RAM @ 5200MHz, Windows 11 Pro 23H2, Corsair H150i Elite AIO, 4x Corsair RGB fans, 3x M.2 NVME drives, 2x SATA SSDs, 2x SATA HDs.

But it is safe? In the manual there s no instructions around downgrade bios. The motherboard doest have that dedicated usb port or button for bios flash.

Yes, the BIOS image will simply be written, whether it's an upgrade or downgrade. I can't say that it's 100% safe, flashing a BIOS never is, but if your PC is stable in operation then it's as good as it will ever be. Your decision of course, but the process is the same. Did you update Windows MEI drivers and ME firmware before the latest update? If not, then might be worth doing that and assessing the latest BIOS again before you decide to go back.

Yeah. It is strange the CPU got such a bit hit after updating the BIOS. Clearly didnt expected that. Drivers have been updates, yes.

Seems like I cannot rollback the bios. It get stuck  i click YES and does nothing. I presset reset and luckily there s no damage.

I'm not familiar with your motherboard or BIOS versions, but perhaps it is locked from downgrades or 'roll back'. If that is true, then there perhaps there is no easy way to go back to the previous BIOS 🙄 Apart from your lower FPS, then don't be concerned if everything is working. The next BIOS update might be better.

Yes, probably I have to live with it. 🙂 Thanks for your replies!

I think I understand your concern - the 'flashback' port (if you have one) is just another way to upgrade or downgrade the BIOS. The name 'flashback' is misleading, it's just another method for an update (or downgrade) that doesn't require a CPU to be installed. Otherwise, it's no different in the way it works.

You don't need that port to perform a downgrade to a previous BIOS.
