BIOS 3901

I haven't tried the 3901 beta yet, because 3802 didn't work for me on Z690/12th Gen, the first ever BIOS that left me with blank screens and slow boots. So I have some questions:

1. Can it definitely be rolled back? 2. Is it even supposed to work with 12th Gen?

I believe that the recent microcode updates are really for 13th & 14th Gen, but there is no guidance in the BIOS release notes for 12th Gen users. At the end of the day, Z690 (and hence any BIOS release) is supposed to support 12th, 13th and 14th Gen right?

Have any 12th Gen users tried it yet on Z690? I have a lot of work on right now and if it doesn't work and can't be rolled back, then I'm in trouble. Thanks.

I did make some calls last weeks and i can confirm when users use the new bios with 12th and other 13 and 14, there is NO code apply. we use, on our cases, 0x34 not the new one, even that we have access to the intel profiles and adjustment.  i iwll check the spikes on 12th on balance!  (12700kf)  jeje i need need a NEW cpu.

I have tried all the BIOS-revisions, and always rolled back to 3603. Why? Because my all-core overclock will lock at 4,9Ghz with all versions after 3603. No matter what settings, have tried everything. Also reported this straight to ASUS, with screenshots, videos and packed BIOS settings but nothing has changed. Whatever, 3603 works.

After day one of the beta, works as intented. i use z690 apex with 12700kf same par to par with old bios. Code will appear for us 0x35(since is not 13th 14th i7i9) WITH the intel profile as instructions on ami screen. ENTER bios f5, of course f10 to safe and enter back enable the xmp, mine 6000 i push 6200mhz with not apparent reason but post perfect.

After all this weeks if fine. aside using mokichu drivers and firmware, and since a week on clean install on 24h2 prerelease. No slow boot or post. aside making sure csm is disable, secure boot on custom and uefi and gpu nvme not on auto but on corresponding gen 4. looks ok to me. i will try some oc later. PL1 and pl2 on 190w (as specs on intel performance.

If user have something odd or different is unknown.

@JohnAb

FWIW - I just found in another thread that ASUS has posted a new non-Beta BIOS - 4001:

BIOS 4001

Just as information from me regarding the Beta Bios 3901: It runs without errors on my Z690 Formula. The only observation I made is that the CPU gets 3 - 4 degrees warmer. Same settings as with the Bios 2801, same RAM OC, and UV/OC as in my signature, including TVB +2. I went back to the 2801 because it seems smoother in general. I never had spikes above 1.49v though. I attached a measuring device over 4 days of continuous operation, about 21 hours idle and 3 hours gaming per day.

I have the ROG STRIX Z690-I GAMING WIFI. Before upgrading to the 14900K I ran with a 12900K. I've used BIOS version 3901 without problems on both CPUs.

if you use 14900k you need to add the driver. even if you have th bios run it again.

REMEMBER: once ami screen appear. F2 to enter bios, f5 load default, f10 to safe and back again to bios to make any changes. that  guarantee to load the intel spec If you use the mokichu drivers the windows will load some stuff and that is much it

I have decided to miss 3901 - I have jumped straight to 4001 - see my comments in that thread...
