The combination of BIOS 3101 and G.Skill Trident Z5 6600 with XMP enabled is causing a blue screen. Due to this, I reverted to the previous version 2802.

Hi guys, just wanted to report as well on the 3101 Bios version.

Problems I encountered tested and for sure are due to 3101 ( verified hardware and compared to 2802 version )

Motherboard Z690-F

- the "Press F2 or Del to enter setup" text at POST has a larger font, kinda annoying to be honest because this seems like a size 24 compared to 8 on old font 😄

- Led FW problem, at POST when all RGB lights up (gpu, ram, etc) my ROG THOR P2 rgb lights up too, and stays red, doesn't go into rainbow mode meaning it detects it's being connected to the motherboard slot. After boot, when Armoury Crate loads up my profile which is set to Dark(off) everything goes dark except the psu.

Tried everything from bios settings to armoury crate reinstall to checking cable resistancies.

After reverting to Led FW from 2802, everything works normal.

idk if they need to change led fw on a new bios update or update the armoury crate but Asus sould be noticed.

the sync is normal for a very long time.  the text was on the new bios that is fine. maybe can be change on future revisions.  i have use the bios since day on on my z690 and i have no issues what so ever.

there is no changes on aura functions betwen 2802 and 3101. NOTE: all items that are not control BY the program will turn to default light. has being like that since 2 years now and a little more. I know what you wrote and is ok. but the correct functionality is no program is default untill app kicks in. once you restart and app turn off will go to default. on thor like your and my thor 850w first gen is the same

what about the boot times? I have Rog Z690-a ddr4 wifi.
ever since I built my system up to the latest BIOS version, my Bios Time, ram training and post had been rather long and can't fix it.
my specs are 12900K Z690-a ddr4 wifi & Rtx 3090
for reference my brothers PC on 10900K and MSI board boots in 9 sec compared to my 40 sec.

do you have any old hard disk that came from a old build or ssd or external hard disk?

My old 9700 on a Gigabyte Z390 would boot instantly, my 12th Gen i7 K series, on an Strix Z690-E has always been slow to boot, it was on a Z690 Aorus Master which also was equally slow to boot as well.

There are a lot of reasons that this happens, but it's not unique to you, so no worries there.

CSM (Compatibility Support Module) is not working anymore with Bios 3101!

on Asus Z690 Extreme..

With Optimized Defaults loaded as settings,

If i enable CSM with Bios 3101 the system freezes just after the bios when trying to boot the OS with a b1 error Q-code!

With CSM disable it boot normally..

I tried on two Z690 extreme, with different m.2 and different OS with the same result.

I had to revert to  Bios 2802, or Bios 2703 and CSM is still working with these older Bios even with ME updated to version 16.1.30.2307..

It is really a big problem for me because i need the newer Bios, and need to use CSM for work..

Is this fixable by settings now?

or does it needs to be fixed in future Bios?

question why you want csm enable

because i only use legacy software and hardware and OS that require CSM enable to function properly without compatibility issues.

Can anyone on Bios 3101 try to enable CSM on his BIOS in Boot menu and try to launch Windows?

just to see if this problem as anything to do with my system (z690 Extreme/12900k) or is it just general that any windows 10 or 11 does not launch anymore on Bios 3101 with CSM enable..?
