BIOS 2204 - What's Your Experience

Hi

I updated my pc bios to the 2204 and now my xmp for my 4x16gig CORSAIR Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5 5600 (total 64gb) make my pc either not boot or crashed windows at login screen. i have had to choose auto and then it works.

Does anyone know how i can sort this as the memory is only showing 4000mhz in auto>?

If i take out 2 of ram sticks and leave 2, then XMP works and pc boots with no issues. I even rolled back to 2103 and now its does the same.. This did not happen in the 2103 until i updated.. I even chose auto and then changed the memory MHZ to ddr5 5600. its booted no problem but now am getting crash's as soon as i get the windows or sometimes it reboots at windows. Ive gone back to auto for everything again i have the latest ME aswell (see photo) ... thank you

It seems very strange that you went back to 2103 after 2204 and now have problems that weren't there before. I suggested this to someone the other day, but I don't know if it will work (the idea is based on some other advice that I saw):

So, disable fast-startup in Windows, shut down, turn off the PSU using the switch, wait a few minutes and then clear the CMOS. You can even try removing the battery and do another CMOS clear if that doesn't help. I'm suggesting this in the spirit of trying to help. I am not sure if it will work, but nothing to lose. I would be very interested to know if the idea is nothing more than 'snake oil' or if it can actually help...

Its total disaster. I had a perfect smooth running system 12700k 3090but after the update I am destroyed by BSODs and constant freezes while gaming windows freezes sudden restart etc. Tryed istalling fresh windows 11 didnt worked. I didn’t knownyou can reverse update, I will try it tommorow

I updated to 2204 yesterday and on my Z690-A Gaming WiFi D4 and so far everything seems to be working well. The only odd thing that I ran into was my wireless mouse was stuttering some after the update. Once I moved the wireless module to a different USB port the problem went away.

I have also had a good experience with 2204 but just like yourself experience the sudden wireless mouse stutter. Good to hear that changing the USB port fixes the issue; I’ll try that. Thanks! Â*

So I guess you are on BIOS 2204 now? You can still go back to 2103 or 2004, but not earlier.

Did you update your Windows ME drivers and ME firmware before updating the BIOS?

Same CPU and GPU, all works fine with 2204 BIOS. DDR5 6000 CL36 at 6200, ASUS AI overclock enabled.

Funny old game isn't it? Not sure I'll ever understand why some systems have issues and others are fine. Memory seems to have a lot to do with it.

Updated from 1505 to 2204 yesterday, update went flawless, and everything is working fine so far. Z690 Extreme / Corsair Vengeance 64GB (2x32GB) 5200 MHz on XMP II

Glad I skipped the firmware's in-between by reading about the problems here. It just was time to give it a try after staying a long time without any problems on 1505

Z690-E, 12900k + 4090, ddr5 6400mhz CL32 2x16 kit. No issue after update. Done overnight 8 hours Karhu ram test, and Y-cruncher AVX2 float stress test.*
