Best Settings and BIOS version for my setup?

Well, I should start by saying I'm pretty new to high-end PCs, and I recently made an upgrade. Now I’m seeing a ton of new settings I've never seen on any of my previous motherboards, so I’m basically lost. My current setup is:

  • Intel i9-14900K
  • Asus ROG Strix Z790-H Gaming Wi-Fi
  • 2x16GB XPG ROG DDR5 6600MHz memory
  • Asus RTX 4080 ROG OC Edition
  • 2x1TB NVMe M.2 SSDs
  • 850W 80 Plus Gold XPG power supply
  • BIOS version 2703 (2024/10/18)

That's pretty much it. I’m not sure if any specific settings need tweaking, but if there’s anything in the BIOS I should adjust, please let me know! I really want to get the most out of this setup.

Hello MakerOfSeas

You shouldn't need to do much, check your memory is up to speed at 6600MHz.

You can use CPU-Z or HWinfo, it will show at half speed (3300MHz).

To get your memory up to speed, in the bios on the Ai Tweaker page, set the Ai Overclock Tuner to X.M.P. 1, then hit F10 and Enter to save and exit.

X.M.P. can be hit or miss, your memory kit isn't too aggressive so it may work without any voltage tuning.

I have my memory overclocked to 6200MHz, it shows 3100MHz.

Hey, thanks for your reply, I went into BIOS just to check and the current profile selected is "ROG Certified" apparently my memory sticks are running 6800 MHz as on CPU-Z it is showing as 3400MHz, I guess that's it for now?

Yeah that's pretty much it and your memory looks like it's up to speed.

So now the fun part. Use your pc for a while, play some games and see how performance and stability is.

I forgot to add.

Be sure to at least install the Chipset driver for your motherboard.

It's only necessary to update the bios if you're having some sort of issue. But, you can feel free to update to the latest version as it does update the microcode for instability issues.

Just know that if you update the bios, then decide to roll back to an older version, the ME version stays the same as stated in the bios release notes.
