ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO BIOS 2402
"Updated with microcode 0x125 to ensure eTVB operates within Intel specifications
Updating this BIOS will simultaneously update the corresponding intel ME to version 16.1.30.2307.
Please note after you update this BIOS, the ME version remains the updated one even if you roll back to an older BIOS later.
Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (MZ790H.CAP) using BIOSRenamer." https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-maximus/rog-maximus-z790-hero-model/helpdesk_bios/
Anyone come across any issues with updating to the newest 2402 BIOS? Thank you!

Hi @KevGuy378
I've been running the 0x125 microcode BIOS for a couple of weeks now and I've not experienced any issues.

Hello @Silent_Scone has your temps or voltage gone up with the latest BIOS/Microcode update?
Also, with your 13900KS how long have you owned it? Have you experienced any instability issues with it?

Some boards may experience elevated temperature and voltage under load due to meeting Intel specifications closer for loadline. What you were seeing previously was due to ASUS profiles undervolting the CPU. Understanding what the Intel baseline profiles change is necessary to digest what the purpose is, which is stopping the CPU from being exposed to higher levels of current whilst also ensuring a level of stability that some CPUs are seemingly lacking. Intel never claimed that 0x125 would resolve the instabilty, only that they discovered a bug that may well have instigated it in some cases.

Understood, I knew that it wasn't going to fix the instability issue. I understood that this was fixing an issue with the eTVB algorithm, just was not sure about the temperatures hitting 100c.
Thanks for your insight, I appreciate it.

I updated to 2402 on July 31, 2024, and I have had 3 system crashes since then. I had not previously had problems with system crashes. My system was new at the beginning of March 2024.
If anyone knows of adjustments that might alleviate the problem, please let me know.

These fixes will only work if your processor is not already experiencing crashes. If you do, you will provably need to contact your supplier for RMA.
