It seems that the Z690 XMP issues are still persisting this round as well...
XMP I or II activated seem to not be ok for games (these are crashing for some reason), ALTHOUGH GSAT passed overnight for long hours or TM5 with anta's profiles passed as well
Did not touch the IA/SA voltages, just XMP is enabled...

Maybe I have a dumb way of ddr5 overclocking, but I train the memory with no settings applied to the CPU - leave your CPU stock (at first).

I also disable that Multi Core Enhancement thing - I hate that.

Also ENABLE your High DRAM Voltage Mode, and move to 1.45v VDD and VDDQ. Just trying to help, admit I know nothing about Hynix M-Die. Only OC'd A-die so far.

Once you get your memory trained then go back and OC your CPU... That's what has worked out for me so far.

And Apex bios 0809 is wonderful for initial mem kit training.

I'm trying to leave the OC aside, I would be happy just to have everything STOCK and WORKING
not interested to have more than 5.5GHz stock on the processor =))

the training stuff: I think I remember something from Z690 - is it recommended to have those check, fast boot - training options on or off?
there was a trick back then indeed...

I just thought that the XMP stuff would have been FIXED this generation...
probably 6400MHz is too much for daily even now...

noticed that 0812 has been just uploaded on the Asus official page - might give it a try though

Yes don't touch your CPU settings at all - beyond whatever XMP does that mild OC it places on the CPU.

I use XMP 1.

For fast boot while training mem kits it makes perfect sense to DISABLE fast boot, right? That's what I would think. Well guess what? I just leave it alone at the default setting of fast boot ENABLED and it works just fine so far, only my experience though.

I do simple click overclocking mostly because I know nothing else. lolol - limited knowledge base, but I can help you with that simple way to OC DDR5 with the Apex, worked out for me so far.

0812 sounds cool, think I'll install it along with you bro! 🙂

well... the tricky thing is that the XMP is PASSING with flying colors all the stress tests (GSAT, TM5 with anta's profiles for hours and hours), but in games... crashes...
same Z690 behaviors and symptoms...
one workaround back then was to set manual everything and just drop the XMP...

6400 ddr5 crashing on a ZZ70 Apex seems weird to me.

M-die vs A-die maybe?

My 13600K i5 pushed the Gskill 7600 CL36 kit to 8000 CL36 TM5 stable, no issues at all - with 1.50volts VDD and VDDQ, and that CPU is SP-P 72.

Just installed a 13900KS i9 SP-P 121, so hoping I can hit 8200 CL36 and 8000 CL34, stable.

Everyone is Overclocking today. lol 😛

Be sure to use XMP I and not II, as memory vendor specific MCVID can often be too low. You can try both Maximus Tweak modes 1 and 2, also.


The crashing outside of memory isolating stress tests in games would point the problem being elsewhere, perhaps with the GPU.

FYI, the CPU SP is based on the VID and has no bearing on the IMC strength. You can check the MC SP by running the test function under the AI Tuner menu.

My 13900KS is: 109 Overal, 121 p core and 90 e core

MC SP is 80

XMP I & 0812 bios allowed me to play 5 and a half hours w/o any interruption, at least THAT should do a 900 Eur mobo

I'll see how this plays out, if not, probably the Z690 "fix" will do - drop the XMP and set the stuff manually
but this is annoying, why to pay 900 Eur for a "premium" board if not even 6400 XMP does NOT work?

well, today the 6400 kit A-die arrived, so who knows, maybe this board will tolerate that better a bit

My 13600K i5 has an MC SP of only 35. lol yet it's still capable of pushing the Gskill 7600kit to TM5 stable 8000 36 46 46 121 1.5v
My 13900KS i9 has an MC SP of 82, yet so far I've only dropped my CL from 36 to 34 since upgrading the CPU, same 8000 mem kit profile

I may be at the limit of this 7600 A-die kit, at least on air and with my limited OCing skills. lol 😛

With the KS chip I can boot to 8200, yet so far cannot get it TM5 stable, even when adding MC volts to 1.45v

Don't want to move to 1.6v, not for a daily, maybe 1.55v VDD and VDDQ might help me...

And congrats on the 13900KS, they are sweet chips. :cool:

Try the "XMP Tweaked" instead of "XMP I". I'm having major BSODs with my 7800 this seems to have stabilized it for now, but still testing.
