Asus Z690 Extreme, RTX4090 boot loop

Hi all,
I have a Corsair HX1200i and an MSI Suprim X RTX 4090.

PC works well until I have no nvidia driver, as soon as I install nvidia driver the PC reboots abruptly,
then windows starts, shows the desktop and reboot, this happen in a loop.

If I uninstall nvidia drivers PC works well.

If I rollback to an RTX2080Ti I don't have this problem.

Can it be some compatibility problem with the Z690 Extreme?

Set GPU to maximun performance in Nvidia control panel. Seems to work here.

I confirm that this work-arounded the problem, I can use the GPU.
Thank you so much.
Hope to see a final solution soon. 🙂

Hi All,

Thanks for this thread, and all of you guys also posting on the other forums around. Just to confirm.

Z690 Maximus Hero BIOS 2004
Asus TUF RTX4090 OC

No OC on the card or the motherboard, except for XMP1 on the DDR5 5600 2x16GB (Corsair kit)

Set driver to performance mode, and no crashes so far!

THANK YOU EVERYONE OUT THERE DISCOVERING THIS - as I was flapping a bit waiting for my GPU to be delivered.

Do you have the boot loop problem without the work-around?

Keep in mind that this is not nearly a fix, with this workaround your GPU doesn't idle and stays at max frequency all the time.

Haven't tried to be honest. I just set it on performance. I'll give it a go and report back..

Latest 2103 BIOS fixed nothing. 😞

Not seeing any crashes so far, with uptime over 5 minutes. Also in GPUz, seeing the clock speeds go up and down.

Can you confirm that it still work after a reboot?
