Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS WIFI D4.CAP) using BIOSRenamer.

All bios upgrade carried cerain degree of uncertain behavior. Please take note.

I can confirm as well. you need to update bios AND intel ME firmware(personally also updated the driver as well)

this will fix both your main m.2 nvme not being detected on the first slot and also the ram/XMP issue.

i had both issues when I only updated the bios to put my 13700k and after the ME driver and firmware update both issues were gone.

My experience from upgrading from 807 to 2103 is that none of the overclocking/undervolting settings carried over. Basically had to start all over as old settings would cause the board to run 70W hotter which was beyond capabilities of my cooler. I managed to dial it in to +5W at idle and +10W at load where it was at v807. A bit more power at load, but also a bit higher performance. However I wish I knew what to do to lower idle power usage.

Hello and good morning. I flashed this new version 2103. I did a couple of tests and it seems the same as the previous 2004, it raises the consumption of my stock 12700KF. I want to go back to an older bios, version 1503 (which is the best so far for my board, the tuf D4 but without Wifi), and it doesn't let me, it says "File is not a proper BIOS". I used bios renamer and it doesn't matter, it doesn't let me go back to bios 1503, it's the same as with bios 2004 that didn't let me go back to 1503, isn't it supposed that with this new bios you could go back to older bios? will I never be able to go back to older bios? The method I use is the same, a USB Pendrive formatted in fat 32 and put in a USB port of my case.

Can you please indicate how it raises the consumption of your CPU, and how you conclude and monitor?

Hi there. Problem solved, really what a weird thing to do. This time I made a much deeper cmos, the board was 5 hours without battery (instead of half an hour), and I made several cmos with the jumper and the battery removed. Now the stock consumptions are perfect again, even with this 2103 BIOS!!!, so I'll keep it and no need to go back to 1503, I'm very happy!!!. It was really a matter of the board, maybe it needed a much deeper reset.

These are the consumptions and temperatures that it gives me from stock! I have the cpu delid, hence the temperatures. As soon as the cold weather arrives here in Spain (we still have some heat), I will put overlock as I had before. They lowered the temperature by 3 degrees from what it was before by consuming almost 160 watts!!!!

It's not possible to go back. Start with a "deep" CMOS clear and clear all old settings by taking out the battery or putting in the CLRTC jumper bridge.
Power consumption shouldn't be higher with the newer bios.

Hi there. I did my best, I removed the battery for 20 minutes. With the battery removed, I did a 30 second cmos. Everything is still the same, with the stock board my 12700kf consumes almost 160 watts with the new BIOS 2004-2103, with BIOS 1503 (before flashing a month ago) I was consuming 135 watts.

I read on the forum that it happened to more people, it started happening with BIOS 1720 (I never flashed to that one, I went from 1503 to 2004).

Can we never go back to older BIOS or Asus can fix this issue?

P.D - It may not be an issue of degradation of my CPU, but it's strange it's been with me since March and when I had OC I didn't have a very extreme OC either, nor very beastly voltages and consumptions. I had 5100 for P-cores and 4100 for E-cores with 1.25 voltage and a consumption of 220 watts in Cinebench with 70 degrees the hottest core.... (all this with BIOS 1503 and with OC from March until September that I flashed to 2004, since then until now I have the CPU and board and all stock), also I have only played games (especially back 4 blood) during these months with OC and the consumption was 80 watts and the temperature was around 40-50 degrees in midsummer, I do not think it has degraded in such a short time and with that ratio of consumption / voltage / temps.... I don't know.

after reading this both my rigs 12900 ks + z690 strix d4 ddr4 @ 4133 c15 and 12900 k regular + z690 strix d4 ddr4 @ 4000 c14 both have bios 1504 the 12900 ks bios update and both rings have zero issues passing y cruncher and tm5 absolute

i wanted to see if the new bios would let us flash back to older bios and reading this i will not try the new bios and get stuck thanks guys
