You can only go back to 2204 if/when the files become available for your motherboard. At the moment, the files are only available for the 690 Hero and Formula versions. You might be best to try 2301. That was a release candidate BIOS that you can find over at overclock.net (Asus Strix/Maximus Z690 Owners Thread). Sadly, without the required files you can cannot go back from 23xx to any previous version like 22xx or before.

@afshinzx12 and anyone else with the Z690 Formula, I uploaded ROG-MAXIMUS-Z690-FORMULA-ASUS&Unlock.zip to files.ryanblakeit.com with the BIOS versions, thanks to Yaroslav83 on overclock.net. He's the true hero here.
You can follow the guidance from my post https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/intel-700-600-series/asus-rog-strix-z690-bios-2305/m-p/920704/highligh...
You will need the 2301.zip inside the file to downgrade first using EZFlash. Then you'll use the 2305.zip and the MZ690F.CAP file using the FlashBack method with a thumb drive.
Once you upgrade to the unlocked 2305, use the 2204.zip and the MZ690F.bin in the below command:
Just change the name from bios.rom to the name of the .rom file in that zip file. Finish following the instructions on the post and you should be back on 2204.

Hello, I have Z690 FORMULA
downgrading to 2301 (USING MZ690F.CAP) VIA EZ FLASH giving me the same "Selected file is not a proper BIOS!"
Edit: I skipped step one (2301) and flashbacked the unlocked 2305 directly. Then used the CMP method and now i am back to 2204.
Is it OK ? I mean skipping the 2301 one.
Thanks

@ssstrong - If you ended up on 2204 then you're good to go.

@RyanBlakeIT @These files in this method is only for Z690 FORMULA, and it is not valid for other motherboards such as Z690-F GAMING WIFI

I think I figured out the details for our board but I did not test it: https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/intel-700-600-series/asus-rog-strix-z690-bios-2305/m-p/921381/highligh...
Decide for yourself but don't blame me for anything. You can also follow the generation steps yourself if you like. I put all the tools in.

Thank you. I decided to wait until the release of the new and official version of Asus BIOS for Z690-F . I am afraid that there will be a problem with the system.

There is a fix for the extreme I think, but before worrying about that, try the following method. I've re-written to make it a little clearer and it was originally posted by Garik14/BOBCOK here: https://www.overclock.net/threads/official-asus-strix-maximus-z690-owners-thread.1794802/page-433
1. Place the necessary bios (2204) on a USB drive formatted to FAT32
2. Shutdown, take out the bios battery and turn off the power supply with the button
3. Wait for a few minutes - 2 mins should be plenty
4. Turn on the computer without the battery, it should show a message where you need to press F1
5. Go into the bios and go to EZ flash to flash 2204 according to the standard procedure. Once complete, shutdown and replace the battery. Next power back on and set up the BIOS as you wish.
If you try it and it works, please let people know.

The original instructions indicate that it should work for any locked BIOS. Too good to be true?

Updated my SO Z690-I to 2305 but now I can't enable ResizeBar no matter what. All settings in BIOS is verified to be correct and enabled, but GPU-Z and nVIDIA information section still says it is not enabled. GPU-Z basically said that the settings for ReSizebar isn't enabled in BIOS but i have triple-checked that it is indeed enabled. Now I'm out of ideas.
