ASUS ROG STRIX Z690 BIOS 2305

Hey guys,

Anyone tried new bios 2305? Any thoughts?

I flashed 2305 on my Z690 Formula and enabled XMP with Corsair as before, and I got nothing but blue screens.  I have 64Gb of Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR5 5600Mhz RAM, split across 4 sticks.  The blue screens stopped when I disabled XMP.

I've been using XMP with this RAM and motherboard for over a year.  This is the first BIOS upgrade to cause this, and I've installed every upgrade as they have released.

Update: I reached out to Asus Support for an update and their answer was for me to disable overclocking altogether as the fix.  This is the same thing they told me yesterday.  I told them, again, that the issue was not present on the old BIOS update but only on this new one.  I brought up the fact that I couldn't downgrade and I just kept getting the "supervisor" to repeat the same message saying that they were going to escalate it with their technical teams.  I was then told I'd get a follow up on Tuesday, they committed to via telephone.  I have also since submitted a complaint to the office of the CEO for Asus as this is unacceptable.  Someone in their QA department didn't do their job and they should be scrambling to rectify the issue instead of deflecting.  Again, will keep you all posted, it's definitely not a good look for Asus.

Hi dear friend. Thank you very much for your follow-ups in relation to solving the 2305 update problem. Exactly as you said, this problem happened in this version. In the previous version of 2204, it was not possible to activate XMP and freezing the system. I should mention that I checked RAM with the memory diagnostic, which considers the RAM to be a hardware bug due to the XMP being active.

@Papusan - Were you successful with this method?  I tried but couldn't figure out how to unlock the 2305 BIOS.  I followed the rabbit trail of forum threads and tried the suggestions in them, but wasn't successful with FlashBack.  If you were successful, could you please share what you did to remove the lock on the 2305 BIOS?

Can this bios be flashed back to the previous version? I ask because I thought everything was fine with this on my Strix Gaming however I have now noticed in HwInfo my CPU V core is now spiking higher than it was before, It is now spiking to 1.394V and I am not comfortable with that it never goes over 1.37 usually on any bios, Why do Asus keep messing around with the voltages!?

I have the Kingston KF564C32RSAK2-32 with 6400 MHZ and have after 2305 only Problems with Intel Network and XMP by MEMTEST ( over 20-30 Errors ).
My WIndows Crashes all the Time.
I buy by Amazon Today the G-Skill 6600 Set which will be Supported by ASUS List like my Kingston Ram.
This XMP Ram dont have any Errors by Memtest.
But i want send the G.Skill back, it was only a Test...

Thanks to Yaroslav83 on the overclock.net forums.  I uploaded his fix to files.ryanblakeit.com (BIOS fix is for Z690 Hero).  The fix is below (for educational purposes only 😀) .

• Download the Z690_Hero file and the 2301 BIOS CAP file
• Boot to the BIOS and make a backup of your BIOS configuration then downgrade to the 2301 BIOS.
• After downgrading, go ahead and install the unlocked 2305 BIOS (Z690_Hero\Unlocked_2305cap\) using Flashback
  • Put on an empty thumb drive that's <64GB and with FAT32 formatting
  • Plug into the BIOS flashback port and press/hold the flashback button until it starts blinking
  • If it stops blinking after a few seconds and goes solid, it didn't work, but if it keeps blinking, let it finish and it will go out when done, then you can power up your computer again
• After installing the patched 2305, do the "Load Optimized Defaults" and boot into Windows
• Extract the .zip file and use an elevated command prompt to navigate to Z690_Hero\CSME System Tools v16.0 r2\Flash Programming Tool\WIN64\
• Run the command: FPTW64 -bios -f bios.rom
• Once that finishes, reboot your computer and you should be back on 2204 again!
• You can now reload your config settings you backed up earlier

Again, huge thanks to Yaroslav83!  I have since ran a stress test and no issues!  Definitely an issue with 2305 and stability.
