Hi, I have a Z690 Extreme with a 12900K and a G.Skill 6000MHz and I'm running the BIOS 0803.
I tried to update, and I have but in the other BIOS I have some instability with voltages.
I just tried to version 1304 and I don't like. In this version 0803 I have a lot of work to put the RAM at the operating XMP 6000 CL36.
The other Bios are better than the 0803. I ask because It's a lot of work to put how it is now... Stable.
Thx in advance

I am using a apex z690 with last bios. my ram are 6000 (oc to 6200 does nothing but was a single click on bios 4301) i am on 12700kf My rams as follow. a kit of 2 stick. i drop down to 6000 (xmp 2 since i am on stock intel settings in bios, that is the one you need to use IF you are using intel stock profile. I know i not the 13th14th but works very well and i am happy y can do anything on with 4090 and i have a 4070ti also with same cpu)
I use as it is with 25h2 and have NO issues what so ever. CERO!.
Here is the part can differ a lot. please take this with kindness. is not what you like is what it is. OC on this eras of time is mostly irrelevant now. aside heat build up and only a few fps on %1 low is point less. unless you use high cooling apparatus.
The use, out of the box xmp profiles are very fix and has hard limits cause board circuit. yes an be better with hard long time adjustment since is possible. the 4 stick UNLESS comes as is, respect the QVL list. anything aside that list is enthusiastic grounds. Z790 and above was better with new cpus.
aside that there is not much i can say. i did try to push the ram a little for more performance but build heat is not good for dd5 if proper cooling is not there. 2 kits of the same specs WILL HAVE ISSUES, is not asus is 600chipset in general. THE best i did with 600 chipset with a 13900k was 96gb 6000mhz cl40. and was a good kit of 2 stick and i try 3. 2 did not post not even with basic and advance help.
hope this help you some how. 600 chipset was the first to use ddr5, and most ram kits for more GB are very mandatory on 5600mhz or 5800mhz flavors. that get better on 700 and above with 14th intel. extra notes for those that love to argue. extreme and apex with hero have the same all with some difference on power delivery and options. in fact the apex and extreme are mostly the same with few add on and extra 2 slots of sticks.
cheers

I use, as many, the forums drivers.
Chipset: 10.1.20266.8668 WHQL [27/06/2025]
MEI 2540.8.7.0 WHQL [28/09/2025]
IO: 30.100.2531.31 WHQL [30/07/2025]
Optional, I have it but is not needed: DTT: 9.0.11911.64898 WHQL [05/08/2025]
GNA is not needed unless you have this enable on bios (same on DTT) this one is "Ai neural acceleration" after checking this and no one know what the heck this is there is no purpose for it. and for nomral use is useless.
adding these drivers only i will not make changes. and I use intel present with 1403 and xmp II. i do not use another setting.
Aside those above i use the Intel ME Conusmer firmware 16.1.38.2676 [19/02/2025]
IF you want to use this drivers the ONLY requirement is to uninstall the intel chipset restart and install the forums.
Instruction are on the post.
and update that bios.

Anyone knows anything???

Hello brunoxsimoes
I'm using the ROG Strix Z690-F Gaming WiFi and 12700k with 16GB 6000MT cl40 memory.
Try Bios 2802 - ROG MAXIMUS Z690 EXTREME | ROG Maximus | Gaming Motherboards|ROG - Republic of Gamers|ROG Global
Just be aware, once you update to version 2305 or later, you won't be able to roll back past 2305.
See how it goes with bios version 2802, you can even try the latest version 4301.

Hi, thx for reply.
Do you see any difference in stability?
What BIOS do you have in your system?

Thanks for the info! I’ll give that 4301 BIOS a try — pretty sure it’s the latest one.
My kit is a G.Skill 6000MHz CL36, one of the first batches that came out.
Apex boards are usually a bit better, but if they’re all performing about the same, it’s worth testing anyway.
My CPU doesn’t really go past 5GHz on all P-Cores and 4GHz on all E-Cores since I prefer keeping temps low. I can push 5.2GHz on all P-Cores, but it needs way too much voltage and runs hot — still stable for gaming though. Truth is, I don’t see any real FPS gain, so I just stick to 5GHz (P) / 4GHz (E) at 1.28V.
Since my setup isn’t exactly “standard,” I’m not sure if that affects RAM stability. With ~26°C ambient, my sticks hit around 40°C even with small fans blowing on them. Ideally, I’d like to drop the voltages a bit to keep things cooler and more stable 😅 I’ll give it another go later.
Running 25H2 here, all updates installed, latest drivers, MEI, the whole package.
System’s fully stable on BIOS 0803, but I’m curious to see how far I can push it while keeping it solid at the native XMP — 6000MHz CL36 1.35V.
Thx for the info!

same . this where the early ones. and does work on most boards. is a very good ram. and can push a lot sadly my 600chipset board is VERY limited on ram above 6300mhz crash what ever you do.
It should NOT pass 5.0ghz only on small burst BY DEFAULT you can push it more IF YOU disable the intel specs and make the oc and IF YOU HAVE A GOOD COOLING!.l trust me on that and normal aio will not do it. on load is the same as mine. 4.7 on load and maybe 4.8 on yours and is fine. After some test and yes i can do it. there is NO reseon WHAT SO EVER oc the cpu VS the cost of cooling the cpu just to get a few fps. trust me. the ways all days where done now is none existent. and more when the gpu is the one that make the hard work.

i will say it since is known. since the insertion of the 12th, there was a lot of updates for mitigations. i think where was 4. then the intel thingy that added more restrictions on cpu. Even that apply on 13th and 14th, i will say 12th get hit.
Now. i still use intel presets. after the last bios 4301 that adds some here and there and the firmware that protects the boards in windows, changes are notable. that oc the pc will do good? with my 4090 and last drivers.. oc is not needed. i use to oc my 12700k to 5.2 and on load instead on 4.7 push to 5.0 all cores, on a low volts. that does not work anymore here. i keep that setting with me since i get help from good guy that is a pro oc.
I will move to 14th on xmas since so i can keep my apex z690. what a board. and get a z890 with a ultra 7 since is ok for me. and see how it does since is cheaper and still use my ram.
oc still a thing? not really. a few here and there at cause of temps or instability. i stop oc since my equipment does not get replace and intel and amd are very strong when oc is concern. if you want to see the magic 5 on the computer go to 14th and enjoy even 14700k can do it with any effort what so ever.
