Apex Encore 14900ks Downclocking at idle on Bios 1703

Hey folks, I'm running an Apex Encore w/ 14900ks. Cinebench scores and gaming are perfectly fine, so I'm not particularly worried, but I wanted to ask now that bios 1703 is out and isn't a beta.

My OC is by core usage with 2 cores set to run at 62, and all core at 59. Under load, everything sticks at 59 just fine. No issues with that. But at idle, for some reason I'm seeing downclocking across all my cores and not seeing 2 cores ever hit 62. This was not the case at all on Bios 1503, clocks at idle would stay at 59 with the top 2 cores staying at 62.

Appreciate the words of wisdom.

Some additional current settings...

  • XMP is disabled for now
  • Asus MCE: Enabled - remove all limits
  • P-Core is set to Per Core Usage. 2 core usage 62, all core 59
  • Actual vcore set to offset + 0.0250
  • Haven't touched any VID settings
  • C States Disabled, however starting with bios 1602 looks like enhanced c states is locked as enabled. I wonder if this is why
  • I haven't touched any V/F Curve settings or any AC/DC settings, however here's what HWInfo is reading for load lines
    • IA Domain Loadline (AC/DC): 0.160 / 0.730 mOhm
    • GT Domain Loadline (AC/DC): 4.000 / 4.000 mOhm
  • LLC set to 5
  • Pretty much everything else is set to auto
  • Windows Power Plan set to high performance

I've attached a few pics. First pic shows C1 State percentages. Pic 1.pngPic 2.pngPic 3.pngPic 4.png

This is a new "feature" Asus gave us with the latest 2602 Beta and 2702 BIOSes.
For your board 1602 Beta and 1702 respectively.

You might want to check this thread were we discuss it in more details.

I'm not sure if you can roll back to BIOS 1503 now, since Asus also updated Intel ME with BIOS 1702 . It might be limiting BIOS roll back feature, though I'm not an expert on that matter.

Thanks for that thread, just read through it. This seems... Wrong. If I'm interpreting that thread right, it is indeed due to forced C States.

The none beta version is no longer available and the beta is back, what does this mean??

and for those who have updated.. is our system at risk?
