Any success with Windows 11 22H2?

Has anyone had luck updating or installing Windows 11 22H2 yet on Z690 Hero systems? For a few days, Windows Update showed 22H2 was an option. Attempts to update however failed after about 8% in. Now, all I see in Windows Update is Coming soon: Windows 11, version 22H2. No information is provided about any specific safeguards which would be preventing this from occurring.

The system firmware is completely up to date right now with 2004 BIOS and ME. All latest drivers are also updated as of today.

Of all the ASUS software, I only plan on installing Crate and this is just to control Aura lighting.

I need to re-install the OS anyway and I am half tempted to see what happens with 22H2. But would like to know what others have run into on this. Or is it just best to reinstall the original Windows 11 and wait until Asus gives the green light?

I was able to get 22H2 installed without issue on the Z690 Hero. System is running just fine so far. This was a fresh install. If it helps, this is what I did:

NOTE: All installers were from ASUS.COM unless otherwise specified. (no prompt) means there was no prompt issued by the installer... drivers were installed silently.

Installed using Media Creation Tool
Disabled Windows Update as soon as possible
Installed DRV_Chipset_Intel_TP_TSD_W11_64_V101191998340_20220928R
Installed DRV_MEI_Intel_Cons_ADL_TP_W11_64_V2229320_20220809B

Falkentyne - What u mean official ISO 22H2? There is only one official ISO for Windows 11 64bit... u cant like choose versions u install windows then update to newest version thats how its always done after fresh install

Hi,

I was offered Windows 11 2H22 for my Ryzen 7 2700x and ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VII HERO. The upgrade went on as smooth as can be. No issues whatsoever, and the PC worked fine for weeks.

Until...

The first Cumulative Update for Windows 11 2H22 was released. Since then the "ASUS COM Service" component will not start. Eventually I get the error:

"atkexComSvc.exe error
Can't open AsIO3.sys
Failed with Error Code 5: Access Denied"

I've uninstalled all ASUS software (AI Suite, Armoury Crate etc) that use ASUS COM Service. Some uninstalled OK, Armoury Crate I had to use the dedicated "Armoury Crate Uninstall Utility" straight off the ASUS support site for my Mobo.

This error appears to have been common back when Win 11 was in Beta, but has come back again. My guess is that MS have increased security somewhere related to COM (Component Object Model) in the latest cumulative update (but didn't document it as it's not on the official change list for KB5017389) and this will require a fix from ASUS. Maybe?

Or uninstalling the CU might fix it but I haven't tried that yet.

I tried installing the most recent version of AI Suite I found on the X670e motherboard support site but that fails with the same error.

So, currently I have no fan control, RGB control, overclocking control...you name it I pretty much don't have it.

Audio drivers work OK, thank goodness!

For what it is worth, I've had no issues after installing the Cumulative Update (KB5017389). My scenario is quite different though as I installed 22H2 from scratch (no update), I have different hardware (Z690 Hero), and only installed Crate and Creator. I did not install AI Suite. Note that the "ASUS COM Service" is showing up as is running. AsI03.sys exists under C:\Windows\System32\drivers and has at Read & execute and Read permissions for ALL APPLICATOIN PACKAGES, ALL RESTRICTED APPLICATION PACKAGES, and Users. Full control is applied for SYTEM and Adminstrators.

Exactly i am planning for fresh install too soon but its not problem for me... it just shows those LSA 6155 errors daily since 22H2 update....
with Eventlog 1108 and it only does when i boot up to windows never in another time only when i start my PC and log-in.
I heared lot of people had those... But dont think Armory Crate have effect on it i doubt it... i dont install all suite only basic stuff but i like Crate i am no way uninstalling that.... and thats all what it does.. it started with upgrading to 22H2.

And its very problematic to uninstall that stuff properly i just do more mess in PC i have it enabled in BIOS so it always installs for me when i do clean install of Windows.

But it does nothing no crashes no BSOD nothing its just there so i dont know if its OK or not.. but in upcoming weeks i will for sure try clean install after i will back up files etc...
U said fresh install helped i have my W11 ISO on my flashdrive 🙂 Did clean install i think last year when upgrading from 10 to 11 i went via ISO way... if u know what i mean.. i think around October last year so its not that bad to do fresh install anyways...

Hope clean install will fix those messages in eventwiever even if they are probably harmless because its been month and it didnt do anything....its just there after every boot

And me too no issues after KB5017389).
Only after going to 22H2 and in form of these errors in event viewer....
Just checked Crate and looks like i have there installed suite but only that i doubt its connected to it because these errors started after upgrading to 22H2 build.

If u can confirm that fresh install solved it i will try it too not now but later for sure its not like i have to do it now.
I am planning buying new SSD 4th gen for OS in november so i will need to install OS fresh so i will do it with that

Wtf u doing man? 😄 Why? i would never uninstall that lol if its only shown in event viewer **** it if its not doing anything if u just wanna get rid of it from event viewer then fresh install like one guy allready said that and those LSA errors with others should dissapear after clean install of W11. Its not worth it to uninstall that much if its not doing BSODS or something....

Windows 11 22H2 is available https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11. Installing this through the Windows 11 Installation Media allows users to install 22H2 fresh.

Download ISO and done full clean install.
