2503 BIOS on Maximus Z790 Extreme Boot Issue - LOAD VGA BIOS

Mister_Fix

Flashed the new BIOS (2503 w/ 0x129 microcode), reset it to defaults, and it's having problems booting, often stopping at "LOAD VGA BIOS".

I can get it to boot after a reboot, sometimes it takes a couple of tries. It wasn't doing this on BIOS 2402.

I'd like to rollback, but I don't want to fry my CPU either. 😄

So I had something similar happen to me today I posted about it I flashed the same update as you and when I turned pc back up for it to do its thing it was stuck on the cpu light would not clear through all the checks just a black screen and my fans going crazy. I shut down the computer and flashed the previous version and everything was back to before I tried to flash the new update computer working fine just with the older update. I would do what I did and flash the older version and get it back to where it was before I think there is some problems with this update and the file does say it’s a beta.

Same problem but I am also stuck at some void during the booting process. This is happening to the Z790 Hero. This is not the Beta version but from the official one from today. The 2503 was rushed and was not properly tested.

and let my cpu burn to death on old micro code? guess not

What do you mean “fry”? Have you seen the voltages on the pic i sent? My cpu idles on 40C … you are not frying a cpu with the stock bios 😅

BIOS 2503 definitely has issues and is unstable. My boot time was suddenly very slow. I was also getting abrupt game crashes after 3-4 minutes of play on a new computer build (ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO EVA-02) where previously every game and app was running rock-solid and perfectly stable. I cleared CMOS and reset BIOS back to defaults, but after a few hours of testing and several reboots later nothing was working. I then flashed back to the 2402 BIOS and game crashes went away, the instability weirdness went away, and the boot time was back to normal.
