Z590-A Strix Gaming Wifi Black Screen after adding monitor

This is more of an account of a problem I had last night and the steps I took to resolve it.

Basically last night I could not get a picture to display on the screen after turning the system on. Lately it had started to act up after adding a third screen via displayport to a 3080 Ti Gpu. So we had one hdmi and two DP connections. Eventually it became terminal. The screen would power up after the post beep sound but it remained blank with no logo no nothing being displayed. The motherboard would respond to power off and reset. No matter what port I tried same result. Tried to cmos reset and remove battery and no difference.

Removed the graphics card and used the on board hdmi port and still no picture. At this point ChatGpt suggested I try to reflash the bios as it seemed like some sort of bios corruption has occurred. This where things got tough. Tried multiple times to use the bios flashback feature to reflash the bios to 2302 but flashback refused to cooperate with version 2302 and 2203 for my Asus Z590-A Strix Gaming Wifi board. So discouraged I gave up and was in bed lamenting what had happened when Chatgpt suggested I try a really old bios version as the ME versions would be so different that maybe Flashback was having an issue with recent ME versions.

So I renamed the 1007 version bios file to SZ590A.CAP onto the same fat32 formatted usb stick I was using before (I had actually used diskpart to clean and format the drive). Pressed the flashback button for like 3 long seconds and this time instead of seeing the Green LED flash for just 3 times and go solid the usb drive lit up and the led flickered on and off. Successful flash at last!

So turned on the system and this time I saw ‘Do not touch while LED firmware updating’ and after couple minutes system shut off. Turned it on again and saw another black screen. CMOS reset short jumper. Restart and saw ‘Bios updating don’t touch’. Shut down. Restart and black screen. CMOS reset again and this time full logo and was after F1 into the bios menu!!! Then into Windows!!!

So at this point wondering what happened?! How did I get bios corruption. Chatgpt thinks its a bios bug  with latest 2302 bios dealing with multi monitor setups and recommended one version older bios and wants me to Flashback it instead of EZ Flash bios utility.

Talk about a late night!

Happened again. This time recovered with a cmos reset.
