It installed OK on my system.  

I haven't yet gone in and reset all the settings.

I'm not worried about the BIOS it's that it wantss you to make sure the Intel ME is up to date first. 

I instilled the Intel Chipset driver that was  released on 10/20/23, a period where there were 4 Intel Chipset or ME updates between 10/12-10/20 and it bricked my system and yup another WIndows 11 reinstall.

Then I read that Intel says you don't have to update chipset drivers because the way drivers are installed using the inf file hasn't changed in like 15 years.

Hello, sorry i'm new to this. Just bought the Asus Maximus XIII Hero and would like to flash BIOS before install windows 11. As you mentioned, have to install the Intel ME first, is that mean I have to install windows11 first then download the Intel ME and install before upgrade the BIOS to the latest version?

Just a heads up.

For a 10900K this updates to CPU microcode F8 (which has been available for a while and I have tested), which has the Intel security fix, but kills performance. I am sure it is the similar for other processors. I am going to mod the BIOS with F4 microcode, then test it out.

Thanks for the heads up, I'm on a 10900k and was wondering if this had the performance killer patch in it. If it is as bad as you say it is looks like I'm staying on 1903.

No. At least not for 10900K (though I am confident it is the same for others). FOr 10900k, 1903 = F4 microcode. 2001 = f8 microcode.

I modified the BIOS to CPU microcode F4 and flashed it.  The Thunderbolt firmware was upgraded as part of the process.

My memory and CPU overclocks are working fine and performance is the same with the F4 microcode.  One issue I did notice right off is that I can't turn off the onboard graphics on my 10900K like I used to be able to. The BIOS setting just doesn't work and windows sees it no matter what and installs the driver. Anyone else experience this?

I had my preferred graphics set to PEG and the on-board disabled and this used to disable the onboard graphics, now it doesn't. However if I set it the preferred to AUTO, now it works and the on-die graphics is  disabled.

So I am good with this BIOS ( with the mod to downgrade the firmware) and am keeping it.
