Hi MoKiChU,

I only recently became aware of your very helpful links. Even though I’ve been building my own desktop computers for well over 10 years, my IT “IQ” is abysmal. I get easily confused by many of the abbreviated terms and condensed instructions.

My initial goal was to update the motherboard’s BIOS to version 2801. However, I found out that I’ve been probably making previous BIOS updates incorrectly.

After some careful reading, I should apparently first install the latest ME Tool Update and then I should update the ME Firmware. Only after I complete that process should I update the BIOS version.

As a result of what I read, I found out about your subscription and have subscribed to your info. But I have a few questions regarding the link & information you provided on your page “[FIRMWARE] Intel ME (H470/Z490)”.

Before I forget, the following is a short list of my presently installed OS & hardware (Liquid cooled, of course):

OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit / MOBO: ASUS Z490 ROG Maximus XII Formula / CPU: Intel i9–11900K / GPU: GeForce RTX-3080 Ti / RAM: T-Force XTreem 32GB x 3600MHz / PSU: EVGA Supernova 1300G2 1300W

Last night, I went to your page “[FIRMWARE] Intel ME (H470/Z490)”, which referred to this:

Intel ME Consumer Firmware: Firmware: 14.1.72.2287 [24/06/2023]

The instructions that were included on that page said:

Check/Update Process: Right click on "Check.cmd" > Run as administrator.

So, I clicked on the Download Link and downloaded the zip-folder. Then, after I unzipped the folder, I R-clicked the “Check.cmd” file and Ran it as Administrator. But I received no response to indicate anything about the firmware version I had.

In fact, I received no response at all. Was I supposed to see something open to show me my presently-installed firmware version?

I haven’t tried to install the firmware yet because I want to be sure of what I was supposed see when I ran the Check.cmd”.

Thanks again for your help and contributions!

Rich

PS Apparently you can't reply for whatever reason, so can someone who reads this answer the question?
