Hello tmyc

You normally get this when there is no fan connected to the cpu fan header.

Enter the bios, go to the Monitoring tab, set the cpu fan speed to Ignore.

Thanks that worked.  Windows is now stuck in Windows, Let's Connect to your Network. I am connected by ethernet cable.  The I don't have Internet can be clicked on though.

So, you're not able to connect to the internet?

Try running the windows internet troubleshooter, it will either fix or identify the problem.

Ok... I can't troubleshoot the connection in windows. Eventually it just freezes up. It seems like I don't have any drivers for anything! The only thing I did was update the BIOS to 1801 as seen below. Do I have to individually download all the lastest drivers in the list under the Driver & Tools Menu?  Sorry if I'm sounding really stupid!!!! The first build z690 Evangelion had everything and I built the computer and it started up perfectly. This z790 Dark hero was a replacement warranty board from ASUS, and nothing is working smoothly as the first build. 😅 So I guess I am pretty stupid, but thats learning I Guess. Not a time to be calling Asus FOR SUPPOR during Christmas Holidays either??? No one is answering the phone.

Here is my build. Worked Perfectly in my z690 Evangelion Build.

WIndows 10, Intel Core i9 12900k  unlocked

RAM PC5-32000 DDR5 4000MHZ GSkilz F5-6400J3 (4 Sticks 16 gig each )

WD 2TB Black SN850x NvME operating system

WD 4TB Black SN850x NvME storage

Corsair HX 1200i Modular PCU

EVGA Geforce RTX 3060 TI

Corsair iCUE H150i  Elite Cappelix

Will Add (4) Wd Black 6tb HDD to Sata Ports after I get this running.

Hi @tmyc

If the system is freezing, make sure you're at Optimised Defaults in the BIOS. Can you confirm the full memory kit part number? It appears you might be combining/mixing memory kits, which is neither supported nor recommended.

9800X3D / 6400 CAS32 / ROG X870 Crosshair / TUF RTX 4090

All the memory is matched.  It has to be something to do with the motherboard updates.  I can't access the internet.  I only did the bios and firmware update. Maybe it didn't work.  The first time I've ever done that.  I probably have to uninstall and do them again. It was only the bios to 1801 that I did. I didn't do all the rest of those updates on the list.  Asus won't answer the phone so I can't call them. Its the holidays and I'm sure I'm not the only one having problems with their motherboards. Everything worked fine with my evangelion board. I did a system restore and it corrupted windows. Then called asus and they tried updating that board, it didn't work, so they gave me a new board under warranty. I gave them all the necessary facts about my parts, it was all compatible with the new z70 dark hero. The only change is that I've added a new 2tb for operating system. I was able to do a new windows install on that Drive.  My guess is that I have to learn how to Unistall the updates that I thought I put on the motherboard and reinstall them. ONe by One???

Checking the G.Skill site, it shows no 4x16GB 6400MHz memory kits.

So, even though the memory is matched with the same specs, it's still not recommended to combine memory kits. What you're doing is doubling up on the capacity with the same speed and timings, 4x16GB 6400MHz has not been validated.

Do you still get freezing when trying to run the troubleshooter?

If yes, try with one memory kit in slots A2-B2 (2nd & 4th slots from the cpu). With your pc shut down and the memory installed, press and hold the clear cmos button for 3 seconds, then boot to windows and try the troubleshooter.

Here is a pic of my Gskil. It is also laid out in the order it was taken out of my z690 angelion. When Ausus warranty asked me what I had in the z690 they reviewed and said everything was compatible with the new motherboard they replaced under warranty (z790 Dark Hero). I waited 3 months for the replacement, and rebuilt it the other day.  I 've only built 2 computers in the past. Each one worked perfectly on startup. This is the first one that I have updated the Bios/firmware from the beginning. My thoughts are that I did something wrong with putting the bios and firmware on it. Shouldn't I be able to at least have ethernet internet working? I use the same ethernet cable from my laptop! Still no internet on the Z790.  Maybe I need to remove the 1801 Bios/Firmware andd go back to the original 0204... and start over. I just don't know how to do that!  I watch videos, everyone is just a little different.  Here is a pic of my ram. So, what I understand is that I should be using only 2 sticks in 2 & 4 slots? The four sticks worked perfectly in the z690 for almost 2 years.
