Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking about upgrading my graphics card, but I’m not sure if my current CPU will keep up or cause a bottleneck. My setup is:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: GTX 1660 Super (planning to upgrade to RTX 3070 or maybe RX 6800)
RAM: 16GB DDR4
Monitor: 1440p, 144Hz
I mostly play AAA titles like Cyberpunk, AC Valhalla, and a bit of competitive stuff like Apex and Valorant. I don’t necessarily need max settings, but I’d like a smooth experience without obvious stutters or frame drops.
My questions are:
Will the Ryzen 3600 bottleneck these GPUs at 1440p?
Between the 3070 and 6800, which would be the better choice for my use case?
Do you guys usually check with benchmarks, or is there another way to estimate bottlenecks before upgrading?
Would love to hear your thoughts before I make a decision.
Thanks in advance!

Hello Theltorither
According to the bottleneck calculator, there would be roughly a 10% bottleneck at 1440p with an RTX 3070.
