TL/DNR: Is there a definitive answer about what will run the fastest with 4 sticks, stably²?
When my build was originally assembled it had 4 sticks for 6000Mhz 16GB memory. Stable. No problems. But also submax 🤮
So I obviously decided that I needMoreSpeed 🏎️ and got 4 sticks of G.Skill Trident Z DDR5 @7800Mhz.
After troubleshooting/web crawling/tweaking/twerking³, I could not boot with all 4 sticks running @7800Mhz. I could boot running them at slower speeds. For example, 6000Mhz 😂😭
To boot @7800Mhz I could only run 2 sticks in A2 and B2. But crashes while gaming. Specifically, RDR2.
So I'm going to return all 4 @7800Mhz sticks.
My decision is whether to get 4 sticks of whatever's the fastest and stable or remain with 4 @6000Mhz.
¹The 6000Mhz memory that was shipped to me has 2 different timings! 🙃 But they run stably.
²obvs, if it's too close to 6000Mhz it won't be worth it to upgrade despite ¹.
³obviously the most important step
⁴I miss Terry Pratchett
