What is causing "unknown usb device descriptor request failed" ?

I've been having this issue for weeks now.
I have a Logitech mouse on an Asus x571GT laptop, and one day the Bluetooth connection to my mouse suddenly disappeared.
I checked and the Bluetooth on my laptop disappeared. I checked DEVICE MANAGER and the Bluetooth was gone (unless I selected to show hidden devices) but under the Universal Serial Bus, one of the drivers is called "unknown usb device descriptor request failed" appeared.

If my Bluetooth is working, that error isn't there. The second my Bluetooth disappears, "unknown usb device descriptor request failed" appears under Universal Serial Buses dropdown menu.

I've searched online and...

1) My Windows 10 is up to date
2) My drivers are up to date

3) I've uninstalled "unknown usb device descriptor request failed" and restarted the computer. Sometimes the Bluetooth returns and everything is fine for a couple of minutes/hours/days before it suddenly disappears again, and "unknown usb device descriptor request failed" driver reappears

4) I've disabled Fast boot up in the Power settings

5) I've selected DISABLE under Turn off USB Power Saving.

6) I've uninstalled all the USB drivers and Bluetooth and restarted the computer. Sometimes it works....

Everything I've tried, is only a temporary fix, and not a permanent one.
Has anyone else come across this problem and actually has a solution that works that doesn't involve a factory reset?

SOLUTION!!

I posted in the Microsoft Community Groups about my problem. Someone asked to upload my mini dump logs, which I did and they saw that my Network card was causing the issue.
I took it to a computer repair shop and they ran their own tests and determined it was the network card in my laptop.
They took it out of my laptop and tested the chip on its down and it showed faults. The repairman inserted a new network card into the laptop and test everything and no errors.
Since then...
- No crashes
- No "unknown usb device descriptor request failed"

I have exactly the same Problem! Since i updated my Bios to 318

Controller disconnected and the Bluetooth disappears in the Device Manager... and "unknown usb device..." appears

Everything is Up to Date, Drivers... Windows..

Tried also to reset the Windows.. but still the same issues

Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 GX350RX

It's been giving me SO MUCH GRIEF these past 2 weeks.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Bluetooth, WLAN, USB drivers and nothing seems to work.
Only temporary solutions where my Mouse (Bluetooth) will work for a couple minutes, hours, days before it randomly disappears and the 'unknown usb device descriptor request failed" appears and sometimes it crashes my computer, sometimes it doesn't.

I just tried this solution maybe 30min ago where you have to go into the registry...
I'll see how long it lasts, if its a permanent or a temporary solution but look at this one

Sadly the Regedit Workaround didnt helped me..

But i resettet my BIOS to System Defaults and it Works! I dont have "unknown usb device..." and my WLAN and Bluetooth are available again.

I never touched the BIOS settings, but as i said before... i had thes Problems since i Updated the BIOS to Version 318, so i think this Update did some strange changes in the settings or maybe Version 317 has some settings that dont work with 318.. dont know, but it works for me now.

Hopefully this helps you also

Ahhh resetting BIOS to system defaults...interesting.
I'll keep that in mind. Was easy to do?

ASUS Motherboard's Suck!!!

I bought this Asus laptop December 2019 and it worked smoothly til March 2022. Since then I've had to...
1) Replace the computer screen (one of the circuits in the monitor burned out)
2) Replaced my laptop charger (somehow the adapter kept shorting out my computer and making it shut off)
3) And now my Bluetooth works, and doesn't work. Found one solution where you have to go into the registry, and that worked. But now my computer randomly crashes and resets. Ughh.

Might be my last Asus...

The fix I found in Reddit was to hold the power button for 60 seconds. It seems to reset some settings somewhere and restores wifi/bluetooth connectivity. It worked for me 2x.

I can reproduce the issue when I update my Wifi and Bluetooth driver, when I do that it kills my Bluetooth and I get the error you described. The 60 second power trick works each time to fix it.
