The beep codes report how far the motherboard managed to boot up before something in the hardware or firmware failed, they might report an error code generated by a failed component or they might report the status code for the last component which successfully initialized.
Each number and sequence of beeps means something specific, described in the
Asus H97I-PLUS User Manual. Most modern motherboards don't even come equipped with speakers and instead display (just barely) more informative codes on numeric LED panels - these are akin to POST cards used by computer techs back in the dark ages, now built into the mobo itself.
Asus has a tendency to re-use blocks of firmware and hardware in their motherboard designs. If your user manual doesn't list the code you're hearing then you might still find it in the user manual for some other Asus H97 motherboard.
