Water Cooling question

xXx
Level 10
I have 2 questions , Firstly if I have my Rad lower than my res and pump would it make bleeding easier? My Rad is currently at the top of my case and bleeding is always a mission.
Secondly if I have a UV Led shining into my res, will it help keep my distilled water cleaner for longer? Because UV light does kill bacteria.

Bleeding/getting rid of the air bubbles is always a challenge... if the reservoir is higher and the connections are made properly, it could help... However, having your setup in a regular case, could make placing the reservoir over the radiator level a little bit difficult...

What I would try is, when you filled up the loop, close the filling port and start the pump... then gently tilt the whole case in all directions... do not shake it, just tilt it...

And yes, certain UV lights could keep your coolant clean... - just not sure that your LED has the right wavelenght for it...

have the inlet and outlet in the loop on the bottom of the res so the air get trapped and dont go up in to the radiator, fillport on top of res.
this if its tube reservoar.
but how bay res works im not shure off.
personaly i have my tubing on the top rad a bit longer then needed that way i can pull it out and tilt it to get out the trapped air.

Remember that a case doesn't have to stay on its feet. If you arrange things so that the res is highest when the case is on its back (where the slots and I/O are) then you can just tip it over to purge.

Also, depending on how you designed your loop you can remove the entire loop and run it on a flat table, then reinstall it fully assembled and purged.

HVM is right about the silver coil. Silver ions are an easy low tech solution to keeping a loop clean. There are several problems with UV. Even if you get the right type of UV(as Zka mentioned) it will only sterilize the parts it hits. If you have algae develop in the tubes the UV won't reach there. If you have a very intense UV light it can actually cause parts to break down as well.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station…

I have tried to build my loop with easy drain and fill in mind. My drain port works well but my fill port is just a waste of time. I think it gets a airlock and then the water just will not go down the pipe. I don't use dye bombs because I think they just stain everything. Water cooling parts are very expensive here in SA and very hard to get hold of. I have silver coils . I also use a few drops of some thing called dead water in my distilled water . Although it didn't stop something from growing in res. This week I pulled of one of my pipes to replace the barb with a compression fitting and noticed a white build up in the pipe. Distilled water is cheap so my thinking is to replaced it every few months.

xXx the white stuff is often the result of having mixed metals in your system. Ali and copper in a water loop are not the ideal. Wonder if you might have something like that going on?

If not then I am surprised that the kill coil did not do its work.

The white fluffy stuff seamed only to be around the edges of my res's narrow window. I flushed the system twice with premochill's sysprep. and put fresh distilled water in with a drop of dead water. I have also put my silver coil back in . My system only uses about 750 ml of water. I think from now on I will swop the water once a month because I have it down to a fine art now and it does not take very long.
