Upgrading My ROG Rig - Need Advice on Compatible Components!

Hello,

I've been using my ROG Strix gaming setup for a couple of years now, and I'm looking to make some hardware upgrades to keep up with the latest games. My current specs are:

  • Motherboard: ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming
  • GPU: ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
  • Cooling: ROG Ryujin 240
  1. I'm primarily considering upgrading my GPU and maybe adding more RAM. I've been eyeing the latest ROG Strix GPUs, but I'm unsure which one would be the best fit for my motherboard and existing setup.
  2. Is there a particular ROG Strix GPU you'd recommend for a significant performance boost without running into compatibility or bottlenecking issues?Should I consider upgrading my RAM to 32GB? Would there be a noticeable difference in gaming and multitasking?

Thanks in advance!

Regards

Hello,

1. Do you have a budget? What is your current CPU?
If you want to keep your existing board, plenty of 32GB memory kits are for sale (don't combine memory kits).

2. Depending on your budget, a Strix 4080 would be a very noticeable upgrade but you may be CPU bottlenecked depending on which SKU. Some games may benefit from 32GB RAM over 16GB, but overall performance benefit will be marginal. It depends on what you intend to use the machine for outside of gaming.
