Hi guys i'm new here, and i have recently decided to upgrade and build my own computer, i bought an awesome set up, and got to work. this is my first time ever really getting into the guts of a computer much less building one from scratch, and i have run into some issues that i am hoping you guys can help me with. I hooked up my motherboard ( parts list below) and my processor, and my liquid cooler no issues. Got my power supply in and hooked everything up to the best of my knowledge. then i got my graphics cards in and my hdd, sdd, and optical drive. went to power on and all that happened, my motherboard lit up, no fans came on, nothing. My optical drive shows no sign of power. any suggestions, i have a monitor hooked up and nothing is happening.

Hello boschman

That's a nice machine you chose to build, sorry to hear you are having issues.

Seeing this is your first build, I'm wondering if you assembled and hooked everything up correctly.

Let's start with what code the motherboard is giving you when you start up your new machine. Tell us what code it stops on.

Please confirm that you've connected the 8 pin and 4 pin power cables to their corresponding headers on the motherboard.

ok so as for those power connectors, i have the 8 pin connected and the 24 pin connected. should i switch to the 4 pin? As for that q code there is not one showing up on the display! im fairly certain that everything is hooked up correctly, as i have watched a lot of videos on setting this up.

The 4 pin is only needed if you're going to be overclocking so that shouldn't be the issue, although if you have a 4 pin cpu power cable it won't hurt to have it connected too.

No qcode on the motherboard would indicate that the 24 pin power cable is not fully connected. Double check that it is clicked into place. Also double check the 8 pin cpu power cable is the correct cable and not a 6+2 pin pcie cable.

That's great you got it going.

Take a look in your manual and tell us what code 68 is referring to.

All right thank you

Once you get your operating system installed, open the device manager to see if there are any devices with a yellow triangle.
