Hey ROG fam,
I’m running the 2023 Strix G16 (i7‑13650HX / RTX 4060) that comes stock with 16 GB (2×8 GB) ?? maybe 1x16GB DDR5‑4800 and a 1 TB NVMe Micron 2400. I’d like to:
swap in 2×32 GB DDR5 SO‑DIMMs (5600 MT/s, JEDEC profile)
add or replace with a 2 TB or 4 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe (Samsung 990 Pro, WD SN850X, Crucial T500) in the spare M.2 2280 slot
Does anyone have any advice for accomplishing this or its not possible what would be? There are heatsinks on the RAM and SSD. For context, i have never upgraded a Laptop before. I really need to upgrade the memory and I would very much like to upgrade the ram to 2x16 GB at least. right now I think there is one stick of 16 but Im not sure. Im not entirely sure how to check without removing the heatsinks
If anyone can help or point me in the right direction that would be awesome thank you!

I have done this with my G16 and it was fairly easy to complete. Neither the RAM or the SSD had heat sinks on them but there was a black flap protecting them. That flap folded back and allowed for easy access but was not attached/stuck to the hardware itself.
The max ram capacity for the G16 is stated to be 32 GB on the specs on ASUS's website so trying to do 64 may lead to issues or instability. I updated mine to 32gb and it runs very well and its plenty of RAM for me. To the left of the RAM slots there is a second PCIe NVMe slot for a second SSD. I installed a second drive because I didn't want to do a fresh install of windows and go through all of that hassle with a new SSD on a laptop. If you wanted to replace the stock SSD I would recommend cloning it to the new SSD first, but that also comes with risks. Since there's an extra slot I would just add a second drive and then keep the original SSD for your OS and put all your files/games on the new drive. Hope this helps.
