Strange SSD behavior on z790i

Hi guys, let me introduce my setup then explain the issue I'm struggling with, hopefully you can give me a hand. I would try to be as clear and brief as as possible.

  • MoBo: Z790i
  • CPU: 13600kf (stock freq)
  • GPU: 4080FE
  • NVMe: 2 x KC3000 (512GB OS + 2TB Games)
  • RAM: Trident Z 32GB (@6000mHz)

Recently, about what we have so far this year, when I tried to open a game it started to show a message, saying something like "Can't  obtain access to file......" rebooting fixed the issue that time (it was in January or so) it happened a few times and only in one game so I didn't pay much attention.

Then it goes further, saying some thing like "device doesn't exist" referring to the games drive. At this point I thought the drive was damaged, to prove it I installed on another PC, (Asus z390i & 9600k pcie gen 3, maybe this is important) but the drive worked normally in that PC, I also tried the Kingston app to check for issues or faulty drives but everything seemed normal for Kingston.

Every time I tried to play a game it crashes and then the drive becomes irresponsive at the point I couldn't do anything to it (HWMonitor showed PCIe errors), not even formatting or access any file, it showed this error 0x800701B1 (researching it corresponds to USB drives when you are trying to write/read and fiscally disconnects the drive, at least this is what I understood, having no sense for me)

Then I installed a brand-new drive (980 PRO) but the same result, at this point I think the motherboard was the responsable, at least the slot so I exchanged drives (OS from slot 2 to 1 and DATA from 1 to 2) but the DATA drive was still throwing errors, keep in mind OS drive never showed any error on any slot.

Finally I formatted both drives, fresh windows install, reset BIOS settings and the system seemed to work fine (it was on march) but this last days the issue came back. so I run out of options and ideas, some additional info is I updated the BIOS to the latest whenever ASUS launches it and then the issue occurred (can't remember but I think it was 2002 when the issue started), so maybe this year BIOS updates changed something for PCIE settings but can't point correctly.

Hope someone could help me im really mentally exhausted.
