My system in the middle of a gaming session stopped recognizing my ssd which is not the main system disk. After rebooting the drive was back, but it was read only. At first I RMA’d my corsair mp600 gen4 nvme drive, but my newly supplied mp600 was also not formattable even though it was recognized. What’s more, the old drive was readable and writable externally via usb.
A plethora of tests later (bios updates for board and drive. File system repair and formatting denied. Drive could be accessed but in no way modified. Drive is not in read only state by any official metric like smart tests et cetera), I’ve determined that the motherboard nvme i/o interface for this slot must have become damaged.
Fascinating that it only lost the ability to write.
My Tuf x570-plus is past it’s warranty at 4 years. This is the first component to fail.
