ROG StrixZ590 E Gaming Memory question

Hi, I purchased this system, it has an Intel i9 processor and 2 8gb Trident Royal DDR4-4266 CL19-19-19-39 1.15 chips in banks 2 and 4. I would like to add some memory and enable XMP, I couldn't find that in the bios setting. The memory is running at 2133 now.

Can anyone tell me where this setting is or do I need to get a newer bios?

Do I have to have the same exact memory and voltage to add in banks 1 and 3 or can I substitute another brand? I tried adding 64gb of Corsair 3200, it wouldn't post when added to existing memory, when I only had the Corsair only 32gb showed.

So my only option to increase the memory is to remove the 8gb sticks and replace with 2 higher capacity sticks? I wonder why there are 4 slots then.

Because

1. You can populate all of them assuming you are not overclocking (EXPO/XMP is overclocking). Memory vendors don't support mixing or combining memory kits. Memory vendors bin and validate kits in the density in which they are sold.

2. 4 DIMM kits exist.

Yes, that is what I would do.

Hello Stevenstar

It's not recommended to combine memory kits, doing so will cause instability or system failure.

Use a single memory kit only.

The X.M.P. setting is located in the bios on the Ai Tweaker page, set the Ai Overclock Tuner to X.M.P.

Each time you swap out a memory kit, be sure to clear the cmos.

Thank you, can I add the same memory sticks to bank 1 and 3 to increase memory to 32gb?

You're welcome

No, you'd be doubling the capacity and expecting the same frequency and timings, this is why the instability and system failure occurs.

Use only a single memory kit.

So my only option to increase the memory is to remove the 8gb sticks and replace with 2 higher capacity sticks? I wonder why there are 4 slots then. I am not using this system for gaming, I just wanted to get an i9 processor for regular computing.
