Currently, I'm running a pair of Samsung 990 Pro 4TB drives on the M.2_4 and M.2_5 sockets.
Their temperatures are absolutely terrible, idling around 70 °C and peaking at 80 °C.
The issue is that I’m using an ASUS 3090 STRIX OC in the PCIEX16(G5) slot, and since it’s a 3-slot card, it almost touches the M.2_4 and M.2_5 sockets. On top of that, I have a full-length RAID controller installed in the PCIEX16(G4) slot.
As a result, there’s very little airflow around M.2_4 and M.2_5.
I was considering installing a pair of Thermalright HR10 2280 PRO heatsinks, but I’m not sure if they’ll fit due to the tight space. I’m also unsure if I can install them at all because of the poor quality of the motherboard: both M.2 holders are plastic and arrived broken from the factory. There are two screw holes for the default motherboard heatsink, but I don’t know if they can be reused to secure the Thermalright coolers.
Has anyone tried this or can confirm if it’s doable?
Thanks in advance.
