ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming questions

Bogey62
Level 8

I'm in the process of getting everything together for a new build and I have a few questions.

Hardware:

Cooler Master HAF 700 EVO case

ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming mobo

Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU

Corsair Nautilus 360 RS ARGB AIO

32 GB Kingston Fury Beast RAM (from the QVL)

ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB OC Edition gfx card

Seasonic Vertex PX-1200 PSU

Samsung 990 Pro NVMe 1 TB as Boot drive

Samsung 990 Pro NVMe 4 TB as Data drive

Questions:

1) Which two M2 slots should I use in order to get maximum performance from each of the NVMe's without sharing bandwidth or other conflicting issues?

2) My case comes with a vertical gfx board mount and a PCIe 4 riser cable. Can someone recommend a quality PCIe 5 riser cable that will be compatible with the included case mount, motherboard, and gfx card?

Thank you in advance!

Bill

Hello Bogey62

1) You can use the M.2_1 slot from the cpu and M.2_4 or M.2_5 slots to avoid any lane sharing.

2) The Coolermaster HAF 700 Evo comes with a 165mm (16.5cm) riser cable, but I don't see any pcie 5.0 riser cables in that particular length.

If you can get away with half a centimeter shorter, you can go with 16cm or the 18cm option (180mm). - Amazon.com: GIGA-MEGA PCIe X16 GEN5 Right Angle Riser Cable PCIe 4.0 and 5.0 with GPU Vertical Mount...

Hi,

Thank you for the response!

The NVMe placement is a little confusing. Thank you for clarifying that for me.

As for the riser cable, while I was waiting for a response here, I wrote to LINKUP concerning their riser cables and my case/gfx card vertical mount. Here's their response:

"For cases using the Cooler Master Vertical Bracket v3, we recommend our 15cm Right Angle PCIe 5.0 Riser Cable (AG-P5-33SR-015BK-v3 or v4)
Please note: our v1 and v2 are not compatible with the Cooler Master bracket.
I've also attached our installation guide for your reference. Please note that only the right screw hole will align, but this shouldn't cause any issues. As long as your GPU is firmly attached to the case, the riser cable will stay secure thanks to it's built-in GPU lock."

So, I ordered one of their cables to try it out on the new build.
