ROG STRIX B650E-I will not POST

MicahParks

I just built a computer with all new parts using a ROG STRIX B650E-I. I have yet to view the BIOS. I think the motherboard will not POST.

I believe I correctly used the Flashback USB feature to update the BIOS to Version 3057.

When I turn the computer on, the PSU, case, and CPU fans turn on. The GPU fans do not turn on. I have also never seen the Q-LED lights turn on in any configuration.

I have tried getting video out from the motherboard and the graphics card, I have never gotten any output. The HDMI cable and monitor combo are working for my laptop.

I have tried using a single card of RAM in the DIMM_A slot, once for each stick. I have tried to boot with and without the graphics card. I think I've properly cleared the CMOS multiple times. I have tried booting without any RAM. Again, no Q-LED lights in any configuration.

I just finished disconnecting and reconnecting every power connector (CPU, Motherboard, graphics card). Each connector plug looks to be as far down as it will go.

I just finished reseating each memory card, the graphics card, and the CPU. Each appear to be fully seated.

I have two Corsair 64GB VENGEANCE DDR5 32 GB sticks. The clock speed is 5200 MHz.

The graphics card is the XFX SPEEDSTER SWFT309 AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT CORE.

I am using the Ryzen 9 7950X processor and am starting to think the motherboard is incompatible with it.

Anyone able to help me troubleshoot?

I'm returning the motherboard as defective.

Hello MicahParks

Just wondering if you used the bios renamer or renamed the bios file manually before using bios flashback.

How long does the update go before the blinking led stops? The update should take about 2-3 minutes.

It might be worthwhile to try flashing the bios gain.

Do you have two separate 8-pin pcie power cables connected to your gpu?

What psu are you using?

The 24-pin main power cable should have a clip, make sure it goes over the latch on the connector. You may even hear it click into place. Checking this, you'll know it's fully connected. It's the same with the cpu power connector.

The BIOS file I used is named SB650EI.CAP (I copy/pasted the name). I did not use the renaming .exe file to rename it. I got that name from the manual

I never timed how long it took to do the the BIOS FlashBack feature. However, it felt like it took upwards of 4-5 minutes the first time. The second time, it felt like 2-3 minutes.

The power supply I'm using is a Corsair SF Series SF1000 Fully Modular 80 PLUS Platinum SFX.

I only have one big plug for that motherboard connection. I checked all of the connections again, Motherboard, CPU, and 2 GPU plugs. All of them are over the clip and fully secured after reconnecting again.

The result is still the same. The PSU, CPU, and case fans turn on, but there are no Q-LED lights or display output on either the integrated graphics or graphics card.

All right,

Sounds good MicahParks, let us know how it goes with your replacement.

I suspected either uneven mounting of your cpu cooler, or possibly bent or misaligned cpu socket pins.

If it wasn't that, then it does sound like it could be hardware failure with either the cpu, psu or motherboard.

I also have the same problem today. I bought the same motherboard but with 9800X3D as CPU. We tested it first at the shop that I bought the parts at and it POSTed just fine after updating the BIOS to its latest version (since that was the first thing that we did). At that time I wasn't able to build the whole PC as I was still waiting for my PSU to arrive. I got the PSU today and built the computer and after that it won't post. No QLED debug lights turning on, radiator fans turns on only for a few seconds after turning the PC on and stops running after but the AIO pump is working just fine and the memory sticks' RGB were turned on too. I can't also turn off the computer even after holding the power button for several seconds or using the screw driver to switch the power pins. ARGB doesn't also work which is weird. I decided to return to the shop to check what's going on. The 9800X3D turned out fine when we tried to a different motherboard but the B650E-I really won't work even when we tried another CPU (which is 7800X3D). We tried every troubleshooting (reconnecting cables, switch ram sticks, using different PSU and cooler) that we can but to no avail. Had to return the motherboard for further checking and if it still doesn't work I might have to RMA it.

Hope to hear from your situation soon as I'm also having this problem right now.
