ROG PG35VQ defective ?

Hello,

Processor of a ROG PG35VQ screen for 3 days now, I meet some quality concerns related to the variable backlight.

When the variable backlight is active (default), the blooming halo effect seems to be at least particularly better than expected on dark areas, and therefore causes total discomfort in the use of the screen in office and game (see: attached files).

When I deactivate this functionality via the OSD, the effect disappears but causes a clear degradation of the colors in the little dark areas, and therefore does not allow to appreciate the original content displayed.

The screen settings are correct. The same goes for the Nvidia control panel.

It is therefore impossible to work properly on the Adobe suite, to navigate on Windows, on certain sites, and to play games that have dark areas and interfaces. Dark areas turn blue or have reddish contours depending on the game.

Having a QLED (Quantum Dot) TV, the system is identical, but offers a much more convincing visual experience with a blooming acceptable in certain situations, and imperceptible in others.

Have I come across a defective screen? Could this be normal operation? Although I doubt that this is normal operation, I still need clarification on this.

You will find attached photos of the screen presenting the problems announced on Windows, and a comparison in game when the variable backlight is active or not.

I managed to sort mine out with the firmware update*
Basically in order to apply it you need to turn off the overclock to 200mhz
Turn off the overdrive (OD) as well and only then apply the firmware
It does work and takes about an hour *
