I just got a Rog Maximus X Hero (wi-Fi ac) and am attempting to get it going, and running Windows 10 Pro retail Box 64bit English USB version.
Summery:
*I cut down the system to what’s listed below, When booting Windows it asks which version, I select Windows setup (64-Bit), it loads files for a few seconds then reboots and gives blue screen
windows 10 pro install Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart
“if you call a support person, give them this stop code. stop code: "0xc000021a"”
*Then reboots
*History:
*This is all new stuff, and new to me, I have not put together a computer since 2005. So started with Lubuntu to start learning about the system and to run memory tests etc. That seems to run without issues so far on the 1602 x64 BIOS
*And then I tried to install two 970 Evos in RAID0
*M.2 Socket (M.2_1) Samsung 970 EVO NvMEM.2 MZ-V7E1T0 SNS467NF0K508079
*M.2 Socket (M.2_2) Samsung 970 EVO NvMEM.2 MZ-V7E1T0 SNS467NF0K517597
Lubuntu-Disks-speed test showed them as working, (but I did not get to a bootable Lubuntu from them)
Lubuntu 18.04 Disks, Read 3.3GB/s, Access .03ms (Boot from this drive)
Lubuntu 18.04 Disks, Read 3.0GB/s, Write 618MB/sAccess .02ms (ACHI Mode)
*And then I tried the Windows 10 and got stop code: "0xc000021a"
Then I updated the BIOS to Version 1704 x64 And retried Lubuntu, it works from USB stick and can be installed to different drive, a Sata SSD, and could see the EVO’s as two drives, did not have much luck installing or booting or reading from RAID0 970EVOs, So I put that driver startup issue aside
And then I tried the Windows 10 to RAID 0 and got stop code: "0xc000021a"
And then I tried a cut down system with just a Sata Samsung 860 EVO S3Z1NB0K918418 And when I tried the Windows 10 and got stop code: "0xc000021a"
So I have been looping around and not getting very far.
*Question: (to start with) I don’t fully understand the bios and would like to be sure I am getting back to the factory settings for each test.
I went to exit and selected “Load Optimized Defaults” “Ok” then rebooted, then powered off pressed the “clear” button on back of board and rebooted.
Does that get me to the same starting point regardless of hardware installed?
Or does the BIOS look at the hardware and change settings?
*And a more generally any thoughts on how to proceed would be helpful?
*Thanks
