Hey Guys,
Im a tad new here, but I have kicked around for a little while offering my lot over on a little known Australian gaming board, and also with the otherside (EVGA).
I'm hoping to do a build for my better looking half, featuring the new Maximus VI Impact at its core, still deciding on a 4670k or the 4770k at this point, but just thought I would put down here for idea's and knowledge with regard to building...
Yes, I know the board isn't out, no I haven't obtained any hardware yet, also <3.
What I'm currently looking at to setup:
Maximus VI Impact
Intel i5 4670K
G.Skill Trident X F3-2400C10D-8GTX 8GB (2x4gb)
Silverstone Strider Plus 5550w SST-ST55F-G
All in a Bitfenix Prodigy.
What I'm unsure of is the mpcie slot (apparently takes m.2/ngff ssd's?) Would it be wise to pick up a SSD to fit the slot inorder to host the OS, and if I do so will the wireless part of the module still be operational?
I'm slowly catching up on Haswell, it seems with regard to overclocking they are quick to heat due to the thermal paste used, I'm not looking for 24/7 5ghz and am thinking of grabbing a Swiftech H220 to cool the cpu, and possibly the GPU when I get around to acquiring one (awaiting the 760 release) but it seems that health high mhz ram leads to decent iGPU performance, so I take it ram with a decent operating frequency is the go here? will the one above be fine?
Kinda hoping that I can find a SSD for the ngff/m.2 slot and use that for the OS, or swap if i cant mount it for OS needs, then raid up some mechanical disk's for all the other needs.
Also looking to take 'shortcuts' by grabbing the swiftech and look at using it to cool the cpu and gpu, so any fan recommendations and all would be terrific.
Looking forward to joining the RoG brotherhood in a small way, have always heard really good things and with the current lot of products on offer, my heart and wallet has been won over.
Cheers Guys,
Steve
