ROG/Devils Canyon Build Planning, Thoughts?

matt_ac
Level 7
Budget: $AU2500
Main uses of intended build: Some gaming
Parts required: ALL
Monitor resolution: Planning on buying a 24" Monitor. Most likley 1080p
Storage requirements: Nothing too extensive just for movies and games. Will have an SSD for OS
Will you be overclocking: yes, to some extent but not to extreme levels

Extra information about desired system: Im aiming on building a decent quiet gaming pc. Im not an extreme gamer, so it doesn't need to be the best of the best. Im not too concerned about quality of graphics, just to be decent and playable. Im more concerned with load times and speed of the computer.

This is my planned Build so far:

Looks good to me mainly except for 10 bucks more you could get a 770 http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-gtx770dc2oc2gd5
and for another 10 bucks the H105 http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-cpu-cooler-cw9060016ww (if it fits in the case). I don't think at 1080p the fact that the 770 GPU has 2GB memory would make much difference.

Or...you could get http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-r9290xenfc which will still meet your budget I think and be a much better performer. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1056?vs=1038

Thats a pretty nice build, you will definitely be able to play almost all games on ultra. May have to lower a few settings here and there on the most demanding games. As you said you're not an extreme gamer, so if you wanted to save some money you could downgrade some of these specs and still get a very enjoyable gaming experience. If you wanted that lower priced "decent and playable" system I would suggest downgrading CPU and ram, also get a non liquid cooled CPU if you dont plan on overclocking much. You could even just get the 2GB 760 and easily enjoy every game on the market. All in all very good build. If you want a higher end system that will require upgrades further down the road, this system will do just that. If you wanted the "decent" level of gaming you can make some adjustments on the areas I suggested and have great experience.

Hope this helps, please feel free to ask questions.
