Okay, so he puts his OS on the 256GB SSD previously referenced from Amazon for $139 or $160 at Newegg and everything else stays on the other drive. He can stick that in as a secondary and copy from it when he does the HDD switch.
Samsung makes a migration software that it comes with that lets you copy your old HDD to the SSD. It's custom so I would suggest you go through and let it copy C:\ Windows and the system partition and exclude all your videos and game folders \ program files (x86\ etc.
