Questions on M2 drives for Z790 Wifi 7 Motherboard

Level 7

I just purchased the Player Three Prime and it has the Z790 WIFI 7 motherboard. It has 3 M2 slots and the first 2 are filled. I would like to add to the last slot.

Specs:
CPU: Intel i9-14900KF
GPU: NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4090
Memory: 128GB (4 x 32GB) DDR5 6000 Mhz
Storage: 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD
Storage: 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD
Cooler: NZXT Kraken 280
Power: 1000W Gold

Notes on M2 slots:
Intel® Core™ Processors (14th & 13th & 12th Gen)
M.2_1 slot (Key M), type 2242/2260/2280/22110 (supports PCIe 4.0 x4 mode)
M.2_2 slot (Key M), type 2242/2260/2280 (supports PCIe 4.0 x4 mode)
Intel® Z790 Chipset:
M.2_3 slot (Key M), type 2242/2260/2280/22110 (supports PCIe 4.0 x4 & SATA modes)

I am thinking a 8T card and was looking at: Corsair MP600 PRO XT 8TB NVMe M.2 SSD

Some questions:
1) This seems compatible with my board — yes? Although it seems bigger given the heat spreader design (Note: The cooling system is: 7 fans and the NZXT Kraken 280 cooler already)

2) Is this a good choice or something better?

I could also use some install instructions. I have the manual and will review videos, but if you have power tip form doing this before, I would be grateful.

Many thanks!

Hello, @sbemb

Thank you for initiating this discussion.
The "MP600 PRO XT 8TB M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen. 4 x4 SSD" seems compatible with the M.2 slot.
For installation guidance, you may refer to the following FAQs or contact the supplier if you have any questions:

Regarding hardware selection and recommendations, I’ve moved this discussion to the "Hardware & Build Advice" section to get more relevant feedback on your query.

Thank you.

Thanks for the information. Very helpful.

Will the heat sink actually need to be removed? Or will it fit in the slot with the heat sink?
