Hello,
For next build I am considering the ASUS Pro WS WRX80E with a Thread Ripper Pro 5955WX CPU (16 core) because of the 128 PCIe lanes and the 8 channel DDR4 memory. This motherboard is designed as a server and has a BMC chip (Baseboard Management Controller) that controls fan speeds and provides server features such as remote log in and configuration. I read that you can't control chassis and CPU fan speeds through BIOS. Rather, you need to log onto an embedded web application hosted by the BMC and use IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) to set fan speeds. The ASUS manuals are lacking in this area. My question is: can you set fan curves that dynamically assign RPMs to fans based on CPU and motherboard temperatures using PWM? Or is the BMC/IPMI limited to setting fixed fan speeds independently of temperatures? The latter would be a deal breaker for me.
Thank You
