pci-e lanes explained

I have maximus vi hero with waterblocks, the southbridge block prevents me from using double slot gpu cards, I had 2 290x with waterblocks but im upgrading. My new gpu wont fit first pci-e slot, If I run gpu(fury non-x) on the 2nd pci slot does it still run at 8x or 16x.
Look in last pic and you will see that the waterblock prevents me from using double slot card
2nd link shows with 290x's with waterblock

Are you sure about that Nate

yes you can and I was not aware of that, I know you can't sli an nvidia dual gpu and single gpu.

The cards have to be in the same family to do it, if the radeon duo pro is not in the same family as the fury it won't work.

The r9 295x2 is two r9 290x's in one gpu, that's why it works crossfiring with an r9 290/x. AMD's crossfire is a little more lenient than NVidia's sli.

The latest AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.3.1 allows you to CrossFire across Radeon family chipsets...
Have tested, currently running 2 R9 390 & 1 R9 290X on R5E, and also a R9290x & 2 HD7850s on a R4E.

( 😞 Posted Scores are 2xR9 390's only, I need a better PSU to run all 3 testing benchmarks 😞 )

im assuming the radeon duo will xfire with the fury non-x, if not ill just sell the fury

After looking at the specs you should be able to crossfire them as the radeon duo pro is two fury x's on one card.

Yep this looks doable to me.

Wow that looks nice pdasterly you're liquid cooling everything.

If I remember correctly you have a very good overclocking 4790k cpu.

I found the archive, I will suggest using ROG realbench instead of prime95 like we did before. 🙂
