Patriot Viper 3 Venom Red 8GB 1866MHz Memory Upgrade

New memory speed, up from the 8 GB GSkill Ripjaws X 1600 MHz kit I had previously. Nice new kit that gave me a 2% bump in Novabench scores, as you can see below.

I set it up in BIOS as an XMP1 profile and it's operating at 1866 MHz now. Are there any other BIOS settings that I should be aware of to take full advantage of this faster memory kit?

Tweaking RAM is a fun hobby. You can start playing with the primary timings and see how tight you can get them to boot. Then comes the second timings, then the third timings. 😉

The faster memory gives a 3.5% improvement in graphics performance with the card on stock settings [GPUTweak gaming profile], up to P5839 3DMarks, so it helps the system run a little harder and is all good.

Now to sort out a stable custom gaming profile that jacks the card up even more, that I can activate when I get in game [BF3].

Is the OC Tuner (auto overclocking utility) not in the V GENE BIOS, like it is in other ASUS motherboard BIOS editions?

Yes, the MVG has it too. There's CPU Level Up and AI Overclock Tuner.

LOL. Nah. The Maximus V Series doesn't have your typical BIOS. It has so many options to play with, it takes a while to find where everything is located. 😛
